Got $4k worth of work done at the dealer and car feels like chit!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had a crap load of work done at the dealer (under warranty) these past 2 weeks and I took it home today and I noticed that the car drives like shit

    20001 AUDI S4 TIP STG.2
    Mods : -GIAC X-CHIP - BORLA EXHAUST - INTAKE

    -work done-

    NEW TORQUE CONVERTER
    NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
    NEW O2 SENSOR
NEW ALL FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARMS
    NEW TIE ROD END

    -Problem-

1.) crazy drivetrain vibration - especially when you step on it, you feel a little bit of the "jerk" or it might be boost spike....

could this be from the new TQ converter ? is there a break-in period for a new TQ ?

    - things that need to be fixed/ not covered under warranty-

    new tires
    wheel alignment
    front rotors and pads

I'm sure not of that stuff is causing the drivetrain vibration ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

You definitely need an alignment after replacing control arms and tie rods. If your toe is off (which it will be), it'll pull/jerk on acceleration and cause vibrations and excessive road noise.

2nd and make the dealer pay for it. I can't believe they replaced the control arms and tierod ends without doing an alignment afterwards

yea anything to do with suspension, or handling, an alignment is always due and in this case i blame the dealer for being stupid and you for not goin back to the dealer instantly

haha. It's almost not worth the "free" parts & labor sometimes when they eff it up, huh?

I took my S in earlier this year to fix/replace my loose and rocking driver's seat (trust me, it wasn't those stupid nylon bushings; I tried that). Long story short: The dealership had the car for almost a month, I found several nasty gouges in the paint in the door thresholds (likely from the seat frame when removing it), I got a complete infestation of ants in my engine compartment somehow, and now my seat just started rocking again...

OP, you should definitely break in a new TQ... and new cats. 500 miles easy city driving at least... and make the dealer give you an alignment and some ice cream to ease the pain

No, but I think mine was abnormally bad. It would slide forward & backward about 1/2" every time I would hit the gas or brakes... You can imagine how annoying that becomes after like, oh say, 2 minutes!! But yeah, in hindsight I would've just dealt with it for all the trouble it caused me.

Damn, I must be lucky because mine doesn't have cold weather package but I still get the blood moving mod. Score.
