Finally. Going to the track Saturday. 1/4 Mile. Questions....

What Tire Pressure should I inflate my tires to? I will probably use a 93-100 octane Mix at the track. Im going to launch a 3200RPM. Im taking the tool kit out, spare out, assorted out etc... Its going to be like 60 degrees so hoping for some good times. So here is my prediction, hope im right.

1/4 Mile: 13.7@100MPH.

Run your tires at 45psi, then if you are getting too much wheel spin just start decreasing them by 5psi at a time. I have no idea about tracking an auto so I can't help you there.

nope too much money. $150.00 for 3 runs is overkill. I rather just use the track as an indicator on how fast the car is and have some fun.

yea thats a bit much I paid $75 for 3 on a mustang dyno. I would still want to see what kind of power is gettin to the wheels. Mine had 210 w/ all those mods I had.

Auditude2.0T- I pretty much got the same setup as you. Im also Tip. I dont have the fuel pump...but I have w/m. Closest I got was 14.1 on 93 octane. I am going to the track at 6pm today with a bunch of friends, we all chipped in and bought some race gas so I will be running the 100oct program. Let u no the results.

Dont be surprised with what you get. Englishtown is know not know for being the best for achieving great times. I think you will be anywhere from 14-14.3

The absolute key is going to be for you to work on your launch. Once you get your 60ft times down in the 1.8x second range you'll get a good time. Dont be afraid to run the car out to redline as well. There is no problem running past the power peak to the redline since you want to use as MUCH as possible of the lower gears in this car as possible (ie, it's better to use 100% of 2nd gear and overshoot the power peak because 2nd gear will have more power due to gearing then 3rd gear will have). Bottom line is to get the launch right. If you get a 2.2x 60 ft time (it, crappy crappy launch) expect to see high 14s. If you get a 1.7x 60ft time, expect to see mid to upper high 13s. It will make the difference. I'd also recommend inflating the tires to 50++psi. You will need a tiny bit of wheel spin so you dont bog and if you're only going to launch at 3200rpm then you'll need all the help you can get. I'd overinflate the piss out of them.

my best was a 14.9 w/ a good launch so I gave up on it. lol. That was prob the last 1/4 day my car will ever see. auto-x and rd course events from now on.

I'd love to see the times on 93 oct with everything left in the car. tool kit, spare tire, ect. that's the real world value, unless you run around town on race gas.

thats some pretty high expectations considering the best time for b7 with a stock turbo is around 13.7...at least im pretty sure..that was kristokes.

What RPM should you launch a 6MT at for the QM?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. If you look at the Car and Driver technique, they'll dump it at redline to avoid the bog. I've found it ok to rev it up from 4K to 6K and to quickly slip it on the upswing of rpms to avoid the bog. Once you feel the car launch right you will feel the car slip and just go. It's a fine line. If you slip it to much, you'll just glaze the clutch and then youll have to wait 30 minutes to try it again. If you dont slip it at all, you'll bog. You want that sweet spot. Inflating the tires helps so you can get that little bit of spin to avoid the bog. This assumes a 250hp to 300hp A4. There's probably a bit different technique that works for differing setups such as with my S4 or with big turbo 1.8t cars putting out 400hp. But for the B7 A4 the above technique was enough to get me 1.8x times. Keep in mind this is coming from some one who is no pro at all at 1/4 mile stuff. I just do what works for me to get the 60 ft time down. The pros can get it down in the 1.6 to 1.7 region but those guys are also dealing with 400hp cars and up.
