1.8T is on the back of the cylinder head. There's a plastic 90* flange back there with the coolant temp sensor on top.

2.8L: remove the intake snorkel from the intake elbow to the MAF. Look straight down, there's some wires in the way, but you should be able to see it.

I stole these pics from Fred2kA4. Let me know if you want them down for any reason.

It's green, or the replacement one should be. On the back of the head, in a black coolant flange.

It's at the very top of the picture. Again, it's green

stand in front of your car, stick your hands towards the back of the head. there will be a black plastic flange, on the bottom of the flange there is a rubber hose connected to it, and on top it will be holding the sensor with a clamp, pull the clamp and then remove the sensor.

DIY are already made for both. It's so easy but on the 2001 1.8T and 2.8 its a knuckle buster.

the 2.8 you don't need to remove the TB inlet pipe. The flex tube should be removed and you can sneak your hand around to get to the CTS.

Change both front O2 sensors and both EGT sensors on a 2.7T in under 2hrs and then we'll talk about space limitations.... I hate working on 2.7T's, but God do I love driving them[/rant]
