    need input on coils!

So I have been waiting for the vogtland GT set up through startup racing which is currently on back order. My friends who are being more impatient then I am are trying to push H&R coils on to me right now. Saying they have been track tested, company has been around for 60 years... all this other stuff.

I have read way to many threads on this forum about coils, so i have done my fair share of using the search option on here. Since im starting to second guess myself i was wondering if i could get some input on my situation. I have never been in a car with either of these coils, but want something that rides fairly well over the potholes and the "paved" roads of Massachusetts. I want something that will take corners well and get rid of the bouncy ride that the stock suspension has around corners and at highway speeds. I know a lot of people have just ordered the GT setup.. any feed back on these?

Pss9s are to stiff for the roads out here, and track-sports are out of my budget.

does thE h&r Kit for a B6 S4 have helper springs?

Any idea what the spring rates are for the H&R setup?

    Re: need input on coils!

my vogtlands gts are being shipped now as we speak.. are you sure they're backordered? the website say in stock

don't know about h&r spring rates but i've had h&r coils on my vw long ago and i loved them much more than the stassis i had on my last b6. rode really smooth and handled great. however i didn't hear many good thing about them on audi's so i went with stassis. it's also weird that i remember paying close to 1500 for my h&r's for my vw, and now i see them for audi's for 1000 so maybe they're two different set ups, who knows. hope that helps

I gotz H&R coilovers now and love them, but they are the only ones I've had experience with on this car. I've had Ohlins, and bilstein coilovers on other cars and the H&R's come second only to the Ohlins in terms of all out awesomeness. I love the way the car handles w/ these, but also loved the Ohlins on my supra shaking teeth loose over the slightest imperfection on the road.

    Re: need input on coils!

I had H&Rs on my B5 S4 and felt the only real difference was a stiffer ride. Car didn't feel like it was "on rails" or anything close to that. Just more harsh over bumps. Basically, I chalked it up to $1200 for height adjustibility.

I have the basic Vogtlands on my car now. While I am certain they're not as mind blowing as Stasis SLs or KW V3s, I was VERY pleasantly surprised at the improvement to overall ride quality. Definitely stiffer than the floaty stock suspension yet the Vogts also soak up bumps far better than the stock ever did. A significant upgrade in ride quality. Got them on PureMS for a $1100. Can't imagine there's a better deal out there than that.
