    installing alarm with remote start

hey guys. I used to do this for a living so I will be installing a Clifford 70.5x remote start alarm system. it should be easy using the can1 interface that just wires to the can interface lines to do everything from unlocking doors to door sensors, etc. I will also be using an inmobilizer bypass module, battery backup, and microwave intrusion sensor. if time permits I may even put in a benefon Trackbox to be able to track the car and even unlock doors and check status via GSM and text messages. the whole setup should be sweet but I wonder if anyone else has done this sort of thing so far. Remote start means not getting into a hot car in the summer and also serves as a turbo timer.

yup the car is auto otherwise I would think twice about remote start, they do come with a neutral safety input for those who want to do it.

the tracking is experimental, I got a pair of Benefon trackphone boxes on ebay cheap, they can be programmed to send position reports via text message based on certain conditions including status of imputs so I can have them text me if the alarm goes off and keep doing so with the car location. I have yet to find a way to convert this to a map but that will come later...

i remember someone researching a remote start a while back (and i would want it too), but they weren't successful.

i just know that Audi/VWs are very finicky w/ electronics.

Indeed, you have to use a module to bypass the inmobilizer setup or the car will start and stall. I am also using a can interface to connect to the car sysstems bus to control parking lights, sence door openings, bypass the factory alarm, lock/unlock doors as well all with a pair of wires. I hope it goes well and will post some info and pictures after I am done.

That'd be great! Looking forward to this. It gets a bit chilly up here by D.C. in the winter months

I can imagine, it gets hot down here and since my A3 is charcoal it gets real hot inside...
