what are the best tires for these cars as the bridgestones i have on now are worn and are discontinued

I've got Goodyear F1 All Seasons on my Avus' that are 225/45 zr 17 and are amazing.

I have Fuzion ZR1's and they suck if you want to go fast. They are cry babies. The Michelin PS2's that were on the car before were much better.

Do you want all season tires?

I had the PS2 and they were very nice. Nice stiff sidewall.
I now have Nitto NeoGen all-season and the sidewall is much flexier.

I have a set of Continental ExtremeContact. They have been great so far ~5k mi. Personally, I do not know how they are in the snow but a friend runs them on his MKIV GTI year round and swears by them.

I will have summer tires p6000 for sale soon used if you need them. A good place to look is tire rack .com and IMO i like good year and perellie tires

I drove to Boston on light snow with the NeoGen tires. They were fine. In summer they grip pretty good, but still feel floaty. Also they are less than $100 per tire...

OH, and they are very quiet.

There are so many mixed opinions when it comes to tires. If I were you I'd check out the tirerack's reviews if you want a wide range of opinions on tires. It really comes down to what you want them to do for you.

I have had good luck with Pirelli P-zeros All seasons, kinda spendy though.

I have Kumho Escta SPT's and they blow away the Dunlap Sports that came with my S-Line. The SPT's are very quiet and they handle excellent in the wet and grip the corners.

x2 for RAIN AND DRY weather ONLY! Those are pathetic in any other condition. Ice and snow forget about it. But then again how good are cars on ice..

For all season tires I would go with Michelin Pilot Sport all season tires. Very expensive imo but awesome tires. Had them on previous cars and for awd they are great.

LOL he said all season. Not strictly summer. I've had my KDW's on powder and about lost my ass. OK not really, but still KDW's = teh suck in any snow. But are BEASTLY in anything else.

BF goodrich makes a G force super sport tire which is new. I have a set and the dry performance is great, According to my dealer, he went to training and BF goodrich claims excellent winter traction. The outer treads are a harder "summer" compound and the inner treads are a softer "winter" compound that does not get hard in cold weather. I really like them so far, but this winter will tell the tale. 5000 miles thus far.

What is the widest tire you can fit on stock 17 inch rims?

225/45/17???

i was hoping to squeeze a 235 on there.

people have put 235 on them,( stock 17) but if you do you man need a small spacer in the rear depending on how low you are, you may rub the rear upper control arm, for example in summer mode my car runs 235 18 with a et of 35 and i clear but rub a very liltle with a 24.5 ride hight in the front is were i rub, but with a 225 17 I am all good, but I picked up 10 MM spacers for the winter set up (stock rims with ET of 45 ) to fill out the gap in the wheel wells.
