My car won't start.

Hello Fellow AZ'ers

I have a 01.5 Stage 3 S4 that I Haven't drove in about a week. So tonight I decided to move my car from one side of the driveway to the other so I can take it to work tomorrow but what do you know the car won't start. The Battery is Fine. I have gas in it. The last time this happened to the chip was fried because of my carelessness when I was trying to switch out the chip to the updated one. but this time i haven't done anything to the ECU. and the EPC that usually comes on when you start the car up then go away doesn't even light up just like the time i messed up the chip. But im hoping thats on the problem and that this could be a quick fix and not a long and painful one.

Can anyone give me some advice or point out some things that i can check first?

its just keeps Cranking and over and over. I had to stop cause i didnt want to drain the battery

Yup. it doesn't get any responses from the ecu.

no response from ECU = wiring issue w ECU or the ECU itself.

Does your EPC and or CEL come on with the key in the ON position?

If you have a Bentley and a DVOM try to see if the ECU is receiving 12v from the battery.

And also don't keep cranking your car. It will burn up your starter eventually.

nope no cel or epc light I don't have a bentley so I wouldn't know how to check to see if the ecu is getting power

your car wont start without the EPC light on so no sense it trying it! lol. get the EPC light on your car will start... i also have VAST and we have chips, so take your ECU out, 6 torx bolts on the ECU, flip it upside down, remove the secure the chip device haha and lift the chip out gently blow on it and reinstall... make sure the securing piece is all the way on, it will click when you get it back enough. have you ever installed a chip b4 ? just wondering this way you dont have to read my stupid directions

Yea i have Tried Checking to See if the chip has lifted of the board but its was still secured in there so i put the ecu back in to see if it would work but still a no go.

next time im going to try is try the ecu in another s4 to see if its really the ecu or not.

I was pretty pissed because that was about a 14 hour drive from home. LUCKILY I brought my spare ECU, plugged it in and worked like a champ.

Try and swap with someone local to you, or remove chip; tow; dealer reflash.

Yea imma try to swap it out with a someone local to see if its really the ECU. I can't remove the chip the car wont really start for sure. Towing it will be the last thing i will do if its not the ECU.

water possibly... do you bolt down the cover correctly? like all the bolts. some people dont bolt them all in and water can seep in there.

well i have all but one put in and its the hardest one to put in so i just left it off. but that one has been off for about 2 years now.

Your chip is toasty, ask VAST for another chip before replacing the ECU. Did you try boosting your car or someone elses car lately?

Yea I will send my ECU to Prince at Vast to See what they can do or see whats going on with the ECU

And it could also be from vibrations from not keeping the ECU securely bolted down.

Remember to always replace that metal strip (ECU securing strap) when you re-install the ECU.
