Re: are injectors easy to install?

    From what I understand:

    - Yes, it's easy APR has a detailed writeup on their site.
    - You aren't supposed to drive far with them if you aren't tuned for them. That's why most people install them in the parking lot of their shop to save a few bucks.

Re: are injectors easy to install?

Just an FYI when I went from the GIAC to the FX injector file, I did the injectors in the parking lot of AWE. I had every intention of getting the car flashed and doing the injectors in my driveway (I live 10 minutes from AWE) to avoid their .5 hour labor, but the car would barely idle itself out of their bay. They originally had thought as long as I babied it home, it would be ok, but it definitely didnt want to stay running with the OEM injectors and the big injector file and kept stalling.
    APR may be different.

BTW the injectors a cake. Two hex bolts hold the fuel rail in place, pull the rail straight up and out, relieve the fuel rail pressure/extra fuel at the end of the rail with a rag, disconnect connecters, slide off clips, pull off old injectors (BE CAREFUL TO NOT LOSE THE O RINGS IF YOUR NEW INJECTORS NEED THEM AS THEY TEND TO WANT TO FALL OUT SEPERATLY FROM THE INJECTOR), replace with new injectors and reverse the disassemly process. Key the ignition about two to three times without starting the car to build fuel pressure and your ready to go!
Prepare for 2-3 MPG reduction and your real time MPG display to be off.

Car feels great, though. Just like chipping all over again!

print APRs instructions, go over the install and see what tools you need (look in your engine bay)

it still displays but is no longer accurate. there is a way to make an adjustment to get it closer to reality (via vag-com) but you can't adjust it enough to be correct.

Yes, forgot to mention that. You can correct it to I think +/- 1 or 2, I forget which it is.

I am at work right now so I cant access a4mods.com...but I am pretty sure they have a write up of how to take off your injectors. I thought it was much easier than APRs instructions.

Make sure you have a big rag... never know how much gas is in there.

Also, you can reduce the DTE by 15% to get a more accurate reading, though it is not enough.

Re: are injectors easy to install?

u may need spacers depending on which injectors u get, My genesis injectors needed spacers (2 extra nuts) to keep em in tight..Also dont forget to bleed the fuel rail, its a little button on the back side of the rail IIRC..good luck...

Remember, if you decide to do it in the parking lot, let the car COOL for a bit. The fuel will be very hot when you release it! Don't forget the o-rings when you take out your old injectors, you may need to re-use them.

If I could install them, you probably can.

That's fair. My shop wanted $100. I told them that was ridiculous for a 15 min job. I even offered to let them do it for $50 cause I didn't want to get dirty but they refused. So I just did it myself

Same story here. The shop wanted to charge me an hour at $65/hr for a 15 min job. So did them myself in the parking lot. Take them out and reinstall them the day before, just in case the shop want to milk you.
    Good luck
