Re: Calling all FMIC users B7 A4 20T

    Hi Guys,

One picture is worth a thousand words.

This is why you either "go big, or go home" when doing a FMIC on the B7 A4 2.0T:

Stock cores on left, ours on right.

All other FMICs on the market replace both stock side cores and fit below the front crash bar.

You tell me if a core that fits below the crash bar is really any bigger than the two side units together.

If you haven't seen this thread already, it is a must read.

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=234990

You are either buying a FMIC for looks with the other ones on the market, or you are buying one for performance with ours.

Which would you rather spend your money on?

^ totally looks, haha j/p But I still got a quality FMIC that has proven numbers on the dyno and performance wise..the atp core is def bigger than both the stock sidemounts together, Its not as skinny as the AWE to stretch the whole radiator but still has performed...Like someone said if you were doing ur fmic for 8-900, i would of snatched...but 1099 or whateve is to much.

I have yet to see *any* data on any of the other intercoolers out there. Can you point me to some?

Other manufacturers have made claims regarding the capacity of the cores they are using, but no one to date has backed it up with any actual before/after dynos or data logs off an A4.

Improving on the stock A4 2.0T IC is very hard. We went through many revisions of our kit trying to improve on what the dual side mounts can do, and none of the below the crash bar designs made any improvement, and most were worse due to the increased pressure drop of the long core.

I have to say that dollar for dollar, our kit is actually a better deal than any kit using an off the shelf core that fits under the crash bar. It may be more than $800-900, but you get much more for your money with our kit.

i would also love to see some real numbers from other fmic producers. i always assumed that just relocating the intercooler was enough to produce gains until i learned about all of the variables involved with making it efficient and powerful without losing anything. i would aso like to see an active comparison of a fmic against a water/meth kit....

I love my front mount in this hot florida heat, I noticed quite an improvement over stock the 1st night I got it on. This is one mod I won't be parting with anytime soon.

It seems as though most, if not all the FMICs out there replace the stock side mounts. Can someone either confirm or deny. Thanks

I should clarify, do the FMICs work in conjunction with the stock sidemounts or do they replace the sidemounts altogether?

That dyno doesn't help at all because the two is a turbo-back exhaust + chip vs turbo-back exhaust + chip + upgraded cat + FMIC. to really see gains you should of done just the fmic. because a downpipe will yield good numbers.

Well then dont go by it, its not the dyno run i did, its off atps site..wel if ur running a fmic, i would think youd be running a test pipe by then, obviously numbers change with that much yield. I saw it and felt like it might help some questions. thks

ATP AND GSG Are not the same. Maybe on the car they look alike with bumper but ATP and GSG have never work together. ATP and GSG each started fresh making the design. GSG is a bolt-on no cutting or fab work nothing. Also gsg comes with T-bolt clamps 10 row ps cooler custom brackets for air sensors polish core and pipes (ATP just start offer this). Just for the record I'm not saying anything bad about ATP product they are just different. But you can get ATP VERY cheap. A lot of our group buy people back out after being PM with a very low price after seeing people wanted our core. Kill or be Killed i guess but we don't care. We will keep making products for the B7 as long as you guys want them.

ATP doesn't retain the warranty either and I believe there's cutting or modification of the crash bar (which instantly voids warranty if you do that).
Also I don't see temp logs or accurate dyno graphs from them to backup their b7 FMIC.

A lot of our group buy people back out after being PM with a very low price after seeing people wanted our core. Kill or be Killed i guess but we don't care. We will keep making products for the B7 as long as you guys want them.
Never meant to imply they were the same (just so you know). They just looked similar to me, a layman, and I wanted some help differentiating the two intercoolers. You really think showing up to a service department with a GSG intercooler wouldnt cause warranty issues?
