Question unpainted USP lower match to other unpainted lowers? I still have ?????'s

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So after searching as best I could I still have unanswered questions about this:

Does the Unpainted USP Lower match the other unpainted Lowers?
    or, more accurately
Is there a specific USP Lower that matches the other unpainted Lowers?

There is a lot of contradiction in previous posts as to what matches and what does not. Conflicting accounts on "GRU's" in part #'s etc. I am just looking for a definitive answer. Maybe even Pics?

Does anyone out there have actual experience with this? Not, "I know this guy that..." I'm look for actual, "I put this on my own car" experience.

Has anyone purchased the USP lower and received an EXACT match to other unpainted lowers? Where did you get them? Part number please.

If the solution is to paint the USP to match the rest of the lowers, is there a known paint code to match the factory unpainted lowers? (I found code "LV7W" but was hoping for confirmation from someone who's done this)

I'd eventually like to paint all the lowers but for the time being I am happy enough with the unpainted look on my Dolphin car. Besides, many of the painted lowers I have seen pics of match about as well as what I have now If I could spend a few bucks at paintscratch.com and mix a can for the USP that will match the rest of the lowers, I'd wait and do everything all at once later down the road.

Re: unpainted USP lower match to other unpainted lowers? I still have ?????'s

When I bought my USP front lower spoiler the part number ended in GRU and it did not matched my side lowers. Looking inside of the spoiler you can clearly see that this was sprayed on and it is some kind of primer.
When I removed my side lowers to send them to the paint shop, I could not see that it was painted.

On this picture you can see the difference in the color inside vs. outside.

Hopefully this is what you are asking about.. :)

Did you read my post in the b6 forum? so many people responded i'm not sure of screen names anymore. "Not a Teaser, Tons of Pics" is the title and gru ended my part number. I'm living proof that shit doesn't match and the paintscratch paint code doenst match the code you quoted. I have some paintscratch on the way so I'll know soon enough if I got the right paint code. From the questions you are asking it seems you have already been in my thread. There's enough pics in there to prove it's way off.

Just paint the USP front and lowers body color, it's well worth it. Seemes counter productive to paint a USP front to match unpainted lowers.

Audi only sells it in primer, you will have to get it painted....

This post has the answer as well as photographic proof

Re: unpainted USP lower match to other unpainted lowers? I still have ?????'s

Thanks for all the help. I guess that this is what I was looking for, but I have found just as many old threads/posts from folks insisting that that their USP lower was a direct match. Perhaps they already had lowers painted and didn't have aside by side to compare? I was hoping to hear from someone that got lucky at one point and maybe had some magic part number. oh well.

Re: unpainted USP lower match to other unpainted lowers? I still have ?????'s

Yeah I was hoping to get lucky too. Skidmark's lower actually looks like a closer match than mine does in his photos. That's why I thought I was going to be able to live with it. Hell, if you or someone you know is skilled with a sprayer, you should be able to order enough paint through paintscratch to do all your lowers for around 100 bux. I think that's how much doublezero30 paid for the silver plus clear for all his lowers. I'm not ready to paint all my lowers and I like the contrast of silver and unpainted on my car, that's why i'm just painting the front for now. I would probably just spray all the lowers when you do the usp front instead of applying a basecoat of a color you don't like just to have to reprep it to spray it again when you do all the pieces. Hell, if you like the unpainted look, go for it. I think the color is so damn close with dolphin grey that it might just look like your paint is dull on the bottom if you didn't color match to your body color.
