Question about painting over existing paint.

i bought some eye lids that were painted silver but my car is black. i sprayed a couple coats of primer on them and let them sit to dry. I came back and sprayed a coat of black and let them sit. I come back to do a 2nd and i noticed that some spots were a little cloudy. I then sprayed on another and let that sit. Came back and again...cloudy spots. What am i doing wrong?? Need help.

Did you sand and prep?

I sanded but I didn't prep. What is that?

Just because you sand doesn't mean all the contaminants are gone.Wipe it down with lacquer thinner.The paint sounds like it's reacting to impurities on the part.Try sanding a prepping again and see what happens
