LF; Trim kit around the shifter boot

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was using those shitty armor all wipes and before I noticed it, I kinda removed the "clear coat" off of the trim around the shifter boot. It looks horrible. Does anyone have one laying around? Does the dealer sell only THAT part? What's my best bet?

I was thinking about sending and email to armor all with the pictures and see what they will do.

    This really sucks!

BTW, it's the regular A4 trim kit.

The ArmorAll has little if anything to do with it. You've just been indoctrinated into the exciting world of Audi ownership. Welcome to the awesomeness of "Soft Touch" coating.

Would I be better off just removing all of the "clear coat" thing?

Here are some pics but you really can't see much and it doesn't look THAT bad but in real life, it really looks bad.

Oh wait, what the hell? That's the Fishscale trim... did you have any kind of solvent or cleaner on the rag you used?

    +1

I used to have the fishscale trim (painted it since then) and it too a nice amount of Acetone, to have the "clear coat" come off.

I have painted my fishscale trim gloss black (i have beige interior also) and have never looked back!

    more crappy cell pics

^^Doesn't look half bad but you can actually see it's painted. I'd rather have it wrapped maybe in Burberry fabric. Would it look good?

No one has one laying around? I sent an e-mail to Armor All. I don't have anything to loose by complaining to them but this really sucks. I think I will end up taking the whole clear coat off of that part.

Only if your name is Paris Hilton or you prefer popped collars.

(No offense to the person that actually does have that btw.)

LOL Thats what everyone says hahah! I've seen headliners done with burberry fabric and it didn't look THAT bad! Anyhow, I guess I'll just end up taking all the clear coat off with some acetone but I'll see what armor all has to say about this. Maybe I can steal a new one with their money because this is really weird. It shouldn't peel off unless they have crazy ass scrubbing power which wasn't advertised. Wrong. It has everything to do with it. The Audi owner's manual is pretty specific on how to clean the aluminum trim. The clearcoat is pretty sensitive to strong solvents.

But why read the manual, right?

wow. Uh, the Captain asked about any solvents on the rag, but, you're right, Capt. Obvious hasn't contributed much to AZ and generally doesn't know what he's talking about.

Re: LF; Trim kit around the shifter boot

    It actually says on the box of the wipes;

-Easily removes the toughest automotive soil -- convinient, disposable wipe.
-Cuts tough grease, leaving behind a subtle orange fragrance.
-Great for the whole car (dash, vinyl, fabric, carpet, consoles, leather and more)
-Won't dry out, damage or fade automotive surfaces.

I think I can get something out of Armor All.

I feel bad because these wipes work really well and removed a lot of dirt from my interior and god knows there was a lot since it's beige but this really isn't normal either.

I received an email from Armor-All and they seem to be cooperative. I'll keep you guys updated if anyone cares.
