I cant decide between H&R race or sport springs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i want coilovers- money just isnt happening

next choice is springs and shocks

    got the shocks i want

    now for the springs

i want a nice drop, but i dont want a very harsh ride

i want it to still be a smooth daily driver, yet handle great.

i have read reviews on both, race seems to be a much harsher ride.

Race- I loved them. Handling was really good compared to stock, alot less body roll. The ride wasnt too harsh, but depends how old your shocks are.

Go for the Race springs, I had the sports and they don't lower it much from the stock sport suspension. Though they were slightly stiffer than stock.

I have sports on Bilsteins. I got them grooved so its low enough, and the handling is good, but the ride is harsh. Railroad tracks are terrible.

Get race. You wouldnt believe how many girls get in my car and say "I wish my car drove/handled like this!" I have never had anyone complain about it being a harsh/stiff ride and the roads by me arent the greatest..

Re: I cant decide between H&R race or sport springs

konis are softer than the bilsteins and would be better paired with the sports. race go best with the bisteins. i used to have race/bilsteins and the car handled very well but living in upstate NY and going skiing all the time it wasnt the best setup. if you have good roads i would recomend it.

Re: I cant decide between H&R race or sport springs

I got race springs and bilstiens. Its really not that harsh. Honestly i wish they were a little stiffer. I have a few friends with coilovers and they have a much stiffer ride than i do. If i could do it all again i would have waited to have enough for coilovers.

Race springs on stock sport shocks.
Ride is amazing and can barely fit one finger in f/r
I also only had 60k miles on the shocks though..

Re: I cant decide between H&R race or sport springs

What are you doing with the car? DD, AutoX, Trackdays... ?

Lower than H&R sport springs is less than ideal for a car that's beat on.

I've put in a couple sets of H&R sports in various cars and they rode excellent. The Race springs are more dependent on the dampers for ride quality.

Re: I cant decide between H&R race or sport springs

I got H&R sports with blisten's all around. i was on Non-sport springs. i was on the 15'' then i up'd for the 17'' B7 RS4 Reps. The ride quality is a whole lot better than it was. Less body roll, stiffer ride, and since i live in Nor. Nev. we get a lot of snow and its still go to ride with. My dad has a 00 yellow A4 Sports edition and its a bit lower than his.

If you live in an area with shitty roads then go for sport, if you have awesome roads then race.
