    Engine Knocking Noise!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just noticed at idle my car has this weird knocking noise, it goes faster as you accelerate, took it to the dealer, and i had to leave my car there. The Service manager said its not safe to drive, and it could damage the car more, said something is in my engine causing the noise.:S

Been gone one day, pretty worried because they had to call Audi Canada :S and waiting on a call back...now im driving a shitty Mazda 6

anyone else have this, did i get a lemon?

    Re: Engine Knocking Noise!!

Is it a knocking or a ticking? If it is a ticking then it could be lifter noise, it can happen on hi-performance motors. BMW used to have me over fill the oil a little to solve the problem. Check and make sure it is at least at the proper level.

Oil was low. Most likely a spun bearing then. Knocking noise in the motor is usually a wrist pin or a spun bearing. Engine must be rebuilt or replaced.

hey guess what though, that means you get a brand new engine... there could be worse things, they could say they wanted to rebuild it haha... I think we all know what happens when a dealer try's to "fix a problem".....ill give you a hint it ends with either a boom or broken shit haha...

It is much cheaper for audi to replace the engine then it is to pay a dealer to rebuild it. better for you too. Sucks they have to do it though...

    Re: Engine Knocking Noise!!

Your right i mean after all it is a new engine right.

As for replacing the car, i know that won't happen, it would get so messy with lawyers, and be a long drawn out process.

Just waiting for audi to sort me a car out. Right now im driving a Mazada 6 :S think im getting a demo audi today.

    Re: Engine Knocking Noise!!

Yeah the getting a new car thing is not going to happen. Swapping out an engine is pretty simply stuff, and these are professional mechanics. I don't think you will have any problems...but you will have to break it in again!! sucks.
