    Weird Light Problem/Puzzle

So I bought a 05' avant about a month ago with 55k miles on it. Love the car everythings great, but the passager side rear upper brake light doesn't work.

Story: My friend was driving behind me and said it was out, so a few days later I got a new bulb and took the light apart. Found that the buld was not in the light, I thought that was weird so I put a bulb in. The light still does not work. Whats with this?? Is it a electrical issue??

    Thanks

im not sure, but i dont think there is supposed to be a bulb there...it is for the unused UK rear fog (iirc, dont know the layout of the avants' lights).
i know the sedans have an unused bulb on the passenger side for the rear fog in the UK but our cars aren't programmed to use them.

It could be the rear fog light. In the US it's on the left, in Europe it's on the right. I've heard a few people get pulled over by cops because of that, but in the US only the left should be lit when you turn on your rear fog lights. It will be as bright as brake lights.
