Help please

So my GF had recently bought an 04 A4 for 16k with around 50k miles. The thing was a good deal at the time but fast foward a few months and the car is causing a lot of problems.
1) Tires were reallly bald
2) Some weird ordor was coming while she would randomly drive.
3) ESP light would randomly come on and then she would have to turn off car and on for it to disapear.


She just replaced all four tires which was around ~1k.
We believe the ordor smell now is from a leaking coolant that the tech said would be around 500 to fix.
The ESP light the guy who sold said was prob because of the tires and they were trying to get traction. So we got the tires changed and alligned and its still coming up. I read one post about ESP light turning on because of A/C. But she doesnt use the a/c and it still comes on.

Where do we start?

you should have made the seller dock his price for the tires and have someone inspect the car. odor could be burning coolant from the rear coolant flange or a number of other places.. best bet it to take it to a german auto tech

Do you have the ESP fxn on? It's the red triangle button just above the radio.

For the odor, have you tried replacing your interior cabin air filter?

the red triangle is your four ways...the ESP button is to the left of that on the dash.

the ESP buton is off. is there any other thing that will cause this?
