    Custom exhaust question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i dont have the budget for an entire catback system so i thought of doing my own custom setup for the exhaust. I had two ideas and i would like to get some feedback on each toher.

    idea 1:
replace piping from where the pipe splits into two to a 2.5 inch pipe and put 2 magnaflow 14851 mufflers.

    idea 2:
take off resonator and remove all piping after resonator along with both mufflers. add one magnaflow 2.5inch in with duel 3 inch out mufler and run a 3 inch pipe all the way to the end of the exhaust.

Does anyone have setup that resembles any of these ideas? Suggestions? I dont want rasp in the exhaust, im looking for a deep tone. Any help is appreciated.

cut it before the resonator. pipe back to a magnaflow resonator, then to two more magnaflows. unles you want the single exh outlet look, then use 1 magnaflow res to 1 magnaflow muffler.

leave the cat and downpipe, from the downpipe back do 2.5inch piping split into dual 2.25inch piping with some magnaflow muffers on the end. if you want it quiet, throw some resonators on after the split. i baught all my mufflers and resonators on ebay through performance curve. i never had a problem that wasnt my own fault (ordered the wrong resonators) and shipping was always fast. one muffler was missing a weld on the seam but that litterally took 15 seconds for the exhaust shop(my friend) to fix.

ordering everything yourself and using resonators ide say youre looking at about $500ish give or take $100 depending on the shop. on my car, i had this set up with resonators and i could barely hear it. i put on my TP and thats what braught out the sound. ide recommend no resonators in your case.

heres my current setup with tp and 2 resonators(skip the the end with the revving clip, the cruising part is too windy):

here is my old car, same deal but used 3inch pipes with glass packs not resonators(not what i askd for but oh well):

I have your #2 scenario on my car. Resonator is still intact and 2.5 piping from the split back to two 14851's. I love it. I think it gives the car just enough sound to make you, the driver, enjoy it...but it doesnt attract alot of attention. Looks real good, too.
When I go GTRS, I'll obviously have to complete the exhaust.

I dont. Not really into sound clips, but if I get an opportunity...I'll make a quick video of it idling/revveing.
What are looking for? Loud, quiet or in between?
