    Temp gage question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I notice that when im driving the needle on the temp gage falls from the middle all the way down to the "C". I know that if it went to the "H" it would start to over heat. Should i worry that it is dropping down to "C". Is some thing starting to fail. Any info will help. Thanks

    Re: Temp gage question

It's definitely not normal. That used to happen on my Jetta, but I never got around to fixing it before I traded it in. I bet someone will chime in and say it's some sort of sensor that's failing. Check your coolant to make sure you have the right amount if your gauge is acting screwy.

    Re: Temp gage question

youre fine. your coolant temp sensor is shot. easy fix if you have small hands (unlike me) and a $25 part from the dealer. i think a4mods has a writeup. just know the retainer clip goes on at an angle. thats what F-ed me up for about 20 minutes.

edit: here you go --> http://www.a4mods.com/#index.php?pag...ECTsensor.html

read that completely. it is importent to do it with the engine COLD. and make sure you take the coolant resevoir cap off to relieve the pressure in the system, then put it back on before you take the sensor out. that way youll have no coolant overflow.

also, the sensor is hard to find at first. i thought it pointed out of the back of the engine at first, but i was wrong. it points straight up.
