Do you think I have a sludge problem?

Took these pictures while doing the TB self inspection. For those of you who have tried to diagnose sludge from the cap, do you think I have a problem? Will seafoam fix this?

Re: Do you think I have a sludge problem?

    Mine looks exactly the same.
I put half a can of seafoam and drove 50km. It didn't change it.
Maybe i didn't leave it in long enough, maybe i didn't use enough.
Just thought i would share my experience.

Re: Do you think I have a sludge problem?

That doesn't indicate a sludge problem. Every valve cover gets like that, just from heat and oil baking on. When I replaced my valve cover gasket, I scrubbed and degreased that thing forever and couldn't get it all off. That's not to say our cars don't have sludge problems, but what you are seeing is normal.

Re: Do you think I have a sludge problem?

Cool, its good to know that this looks normal. I might try some seafoam or one of the other engine treatments suggested, they probably wont hurt anyway.

Best thing to do is, when you change your valve cover gasket, and you take off that valve cover, check to make sure your engine doesn't look like this:

Re: Do you think I have a sludge problem?

the discoloration is normal but you cant really see any sludge in there.. trying pulling the valve cover to see as suggested.... im at 85K so i ran some seafoam for an afternoon, let it sit overnight then back to work then drained it at work about 10k ago then i just started my autorx/dino oil cycle a few weeks ago.. got about 1500 to go

Not really. This is caused by condensation.
