There was a place that does rebuilds that can withstand the power, but I'm honestly asking what's the point? Your gonna pay probably about 5-6k for the turbo, and then another 4 for a new built trans, and you still probably aren't as fast as a turbo'd manual car. My call would be try to sell the automagic and pickup a used manual one.
I dont' think the issue is the software alone. There are many factors that can contribute to fuel cut. Cam Lobe wear, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure Sensor etc. and going from apr to unitronic, i think is a big mistake. at waterfest this year, there was a mk2 jetta with a Turbo'ed R32 motor and drivetrain swap and unitronic tune. hpa and eip have been able to make 400+ hp on similar set up's. I dont think the car broke into the 300hp range. I wish i had video so you could all hear the car while on the dyno at waterfest. it sounded bad, the rpm's didn't climb smooth, and was stuttering the whole way up.
APR is better than Unitronic, as a whole. APR designs and develops there own parts. They are a big business for a reason, they even have their own racing team of MK5 gti's aside from their business. if they can afford to support that, then they must be making money, and if they are making money they are doing something right.
And to add, i'm not biased either...because i have a GIAC-X chip. Which btw when i first got it 1 year ago, i didn't have any fuel cut. but after a couple of months i started to get fuel cut. can it be the software???i highly doubt it...its not like my ecu grew a pair of arms, and decided to reprogram itself. something is obviously wearing mechanically to create fuel cut.
and the strength of the auto trans in audi's, are not to be slept on. They can handle power, and they have upgrades available. level 10 makes valve bodies and torque converts along with ipt (a forum sponsor). they even have full trans upgrades that handle 800hp for our cars.
a fully built trans vs a fully built auto....the auto will hold its own against the manual with no problems. and on a BT kit, the boost doesn't drop between shifts as much if at all compared to a manual. will an auto trans wear quicker with a bt....yes....and so will a manual. also BT's spool late, and doesn't have the sudden onset of boost, that small turbos like k03's make. so the drive train isn't going to be slammed with torque from a roll. and unless you have 2-step or anti-lag or whatever...you wont be making any boost with the BT at a launch...its safe to say you're trans will be fine for now...
but expect to have to upgrade and repair in the future. same goes for a manual trans also.
