I have searched and can't find anything for pre-facelift cars... Can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: Independent Fog Lights on Pre-Facelift?

Do you have fog lights? Are you trying to make your existing fog lights work independantly, or trying to place fog lights that your vehicle currently does not have?

If it is the latter, then just get independant fog lights and hook them up. Instructions should be in the kit. I have never hooked any up myself, but if they work like any other luminare then it should be rather simple. It is just a light switch. If you get a kit and need help, I can try and assist.

I have fog lights in the headlights from the factory, but I was adding aftermarket fogs that I want to run off of the factory switch... I don't want another switch, but I also want them to run without the lowbeams...

just get a relay kit, and tap it into the green wire on the headlight which is headlight fog i believe

Re: Independent Fog Lights on Pre-Facelift?

I tried the above instructions. Tapped into the main fuse box, jumped wires as it said, but no luck. Fogs still only work when lights are on, but actual light in switch will come on at any time regardless of fogs actually being on or not.. To redeem myself I made a hidden switch for the headlight washers to work independent of lighting (anyone in the snow states knows why) :-)

I made the opposite, I have a switch to turn mine off when I don't need to wash the headlights to save fluid

Re: Independent Fog Lights on Pre-Facelift?

Finally decided to try this and no luck... I got the same results as BADB5A4. The light on the switch would come on without the headlights being one, but the lights themselves wouldn't unless the headlights were on.

Has anyone successfully conquered this task?

Hey just a guess, does your rear for work without the lights being on? I just found out mine does . Both switches will illuminate but only rear for will be on, even without the driving lights on.

Its got to be one simple wire, I think my car is taunting me at this point..

Re: Independent Fog Lights on Pre-Facelift?

seems like too big of a task for such an insignificant result.

Re: Independent Fog Lights on Pre-Facelift?

I did the "independent" mod to my foglamps last week.

    I've got OEM RS4 HID's fitted to my '96 pre-facelift.

Just pulled out the relay under the steering column area - behind the glove box on your LHD car.

It's relay #7, I rigged up a couple of lengths on wire, fitted male spades at one end, and plugged them into socket 87 and 30 in the now vacant relay space.

Then I fitted an inline fuse holder, with a 15 amp fuse, then clipped the holder into the main fuse box area. The wires should be long enough to reach your fusebox, to enable easy replacement.

    That's it.

Now my front fogs work with my sides, dip, and don't switch off when I select main beam.
