converting to 2.0 from 1.8

So what exactly would I need to do to convert my 1.8t engine to a 2.0t engine. I am considering a rebuild sometime in the near future and was curious what I would need to purchase or if I need to bore, etc.

If anyone from 034 reads this, if you could shoot me a pm because i live somewhat in the area and would just consider having you guys do it.

What engine code do you have?

If you have anything but AEB, this is your answer:

If you have an AEB, you just need one of our stroker piston / rod combos, and an ABA crank. We are trying to scrounge up some ABA cranks and measure / magneflux them so we have checked out / inspected options ready to roll (buying the ABA cranks new is not an option! $$$), but it hasn't happened quite yet.

Decent idea, however Issam doesn't live or work in Cali. IIRC. He will be able to answer just about any car question you ask though.
You could just stop by 034 and talk to them in person, it's nicer to both parties involved if you go that route.

To answer your question in a generic sense, to make a 2.0L from a 1.8T you must increase bore and/or stroke. Externally all the wiring will remain the same, unless you move into a standalone.

FAQ section should answer most of the specifics.

i have ideas for other write ups but im hesitant to do them, i figured id do the engine build stuff first since that was on the brink of everyone going full 2871R and up, but not really any response for that one...

If you have the time to construct it, there are people such as myself always willing to read it. Otherwise, people just start getting to building them then ask along the way when they have complications.

That is why I linked that FAQ in this thread early on

I thought that would have ended this thread. Don't know why everyone's posting up their own opinions when we have it all contained in one document.
