    Fouler Mod Question

Does placing the spark plug foulers on the secondary 02 sensor just remove the CEL or set the cat to 'readiness'? My inspection ends this month and need to get it inspected. I have readiness for all except the catalyst converter and I have a Labree HFC. I have the foulers (2 of them) drilled at 1/2" (not installed), but I have no CEL. I had it before, removed it and it never came back. But the readiness for the cat is incompliance. My question is, will the fouler mod just remove the CEL or have it pass readiness? I know I can pass with one readiness incompliance, but would rather have all components ready. And if it does have VAG Com read readiness, will I need 2 spark plug foulers or just one to get me there? Thanks!

    Re: Fouler Mod Question

Those anti-foulers is a hit or miss issue. You can never predict if they will work. Sounds like Tapp wrote out your cat readiness and thats why you don't have a CEL and cat readiness is Failed (APR does that too). If you don't have a CEL then you don't need those anit-foulers. How long have you driven since resetting your codes? If you don't have a CEL or stored codes and Fail one Readiness just go ahead and get your car inspected. Don't reset your codes or ECU right before inspection or you will fail as you will have more Readyness set as Fail at that time.

    Re: Fouler Mod Question

It has been a couple months now. I talked to one of my mechanics and he also said that it is rather pointless. Actually, both of my mechnics said this. But one drilled them for me in case I wanted to install them. One mechanic said that it can trick the ECU to remove the CEL, but it would not have my car set at readiness. I am just asking here to confirm.
