A6 6-Speed troubles...

Hey, I have a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T 6 speed that will not shift into first gear from a roll. It is fine from a dead stop and every other gear is smooth as silk. I am guessing it is a syncro but the dealer says it may be the shift collar and wants to replace the trans. The syncro is replaceable correct? Thanks

If you're going to be paying the $800+ to unmount/open the tranny you might as well get the rebuild kit and replace the shift collar/all synchros because they WILL go and better to do it once with the upgraded parts then to have to do it again for something else later.
