    Noob Boost Guage Questions

Installed the VMR vent boost gauge a used the ECS instructions, since VMR doesn't provide any. Also refered to AWe's instructions. Wired to the light wires for the vent adjustment lighting power. Spliced in and crimped all connections. Lights to the vent adjusters work fine, but no light to the boost guage. I suspect the ground, but I used the bolts for the steering column. I tried several different bolts under the dash, but no light. Any ideas? I wanted to ground to my radio ground, but the cheap radio keys wouldn't pull the head unit out.

Another question- being new to monitoring my boost, what should the boost and vacuum levels be? I am hitting 20 lbs of vacuum and 15 lbs of boost. Is that about normal for the setup I'm running (check signiture)?

Big day for my little A4 today, got custom Magnaflow Exhaust installed, new Hawk ceramic pads, slotted and cross drilled rotors, and stainless steel brake lines. Did everything myself but the exhaust. Getting some brake grinding, but hoping it will subside as the rotors and pads wear in. Just read another post about the same issue, hoping it goes away. The thing stops 100% better than stock. I realize it's no BBK, but so much better, and on a budget.

You can also just get a self tapping screw and make a new ground on the side of the dash support above the fuse panel.. that is what I did with mine a my radar detector hard wire.

Like stated above your vacuum sounds fine but you should be seeing more like 20 lbs of boost before it drops back off as you approach redline.

Get a voltmeter and check the level from your light connection to your ground.
That would probably make diagnosing faster.

Thats what mine is like too, with injectors u should spike around 20-21 and hold 19-18 psi.. u prolly have a boost leak somewhere.. its not necessary to have perfect vacuum to boost fine, maybe u have a very small leak and thats holding it back because the boost leaks out..

Wow, sounds my boost is well below where it should be. I guess thats the point of the guage, now I know.

There are a few bolts with brown wires going to them, would that be a good ground option?

Get a self tapping screw, a crimped eye, and sand the spot before you set the new ground screw into the dash support above the fuse panel.. that is what worked for me.
