hey everyone

people are calling me crazy because im trading my GTO in for a B7 A4 next spring.

The reason im trading it in is because im getting my real estate license pretty soon and I do not plan on taking people to see houses in a gutted car, 2 door, etc and of course there are many other reasons.

I love the car but love the B7 more. Before I got the gto i wanted a B7 but they were out of my price range.

Yes this is my first post, i browsed the forum before i joined and wow it rocks. I will spending a lot of time on here researching.

i test drove a regular a4 today and loved it. Of course the power was nothing like the GTO but the handling was amazing.

Im gonna be looking for a S line, white or red, and must be manual of course.

My goals with the car will just be 300whp and rest will be suspension mods.

Will be a daily/track car i guess :)

Welcome to AZ. I think an A4 is going to be a perfect "compromise" of functionality and performance. You can make a 2.0T pretty damn fast, and if one of those high HP american rides (like your old GTO) gives you any trouble, just wait for the corners!

hehe, I do actually like the GTO, since it is really a Holden Monaro from Australia. I am sure you'll enjoy your a4 a bit more, especially after a chip and some more mods.

i actually trade my '04 GTO for my B7. i miss my goat every now and then, the power was just unbelievable. and it was a well built ride.

but i LOVE my B7 and never regret making the switch. after driving quattro, i'm hooked. just enjoy driving it more than rwd... at least until i experience a rwd designed for handling and not straight line driving.

Good choice! The GTO is a fast car compared to the A4, but all around, the A4 is the better car especially if you are driving clients around.

i was thinking the same thing. if you are going to be taking families around to look at homes and the like, why get an a4? its gonna be a pretty cramped ride.

An a4 isnt exactly the largest most comfortable ride and no matter what people are gonna say on this board, there is no way that the a4 or even an s4 for that matter can be as fun as the rear drive GTO with 400 hp

I couldnt agree more that if you are going to be driving people around, the A4 simply does not quite cut it for rear passenger room. My E46 M3 had as much (if not more) leg room in the back seat. The only good part is the extra 2 doors. If you are going to be driving people around alot (especially to some job sites where the house may be still being built) get the SUV. You'll need the extra back space, trunk space, and ride hieght for any situation you may come across...

Second...I do agree with the fellow members that are saying get an A6. Since you are doing real estate you will need a bigger car to drive people around.

Third...I did notice that you said a S-line was out of your price range before, well you can look into getting an 05-06 A6 for low 20's. I found an 06 A6 everything besides S-line for 25K out the door with 15K miles on it in 07 for my dad, and he bought the car, from the few times I drove it, I liked it a lot, the power delivery is there for what a big car it is and my dad loves to drive it fast. (Used to do a lot of tracking back in Europe.) Handling of the car is great its smooth comapred to my USP, and I can feel it through the turns my ride being more stiff which I like. The interior is excellent, and the display for music and nav are easy to learn, and user friendly, the night lights under the seats in the back and in front really make the car look great in my opinion. I hope that you dont feel I'm trying to sway you in a certain direction rather I'm trying to give you a beeter idea of a bigger car, that can suit your needs better and still be fun!!

Fourth...You can also enjoy your goat while you search for a car that BEST fits your needs all around, I'm sure that whatever car you decide to choose it will be a great choice as long as its an Audi!!!!!!!

Listen to this guy well sort of...You gave us specs of what you want and what your needs are, we simply gave you suggestions on what may fit your needs better, but if you want a B7 A4 than yeah the 4 doors and extra seating in the back will surley be an imorivment.

Get a B7 A4 white get coilovers wheels, then do the BT I think AWE, has theres out or soon it will be out, and you will have one fine car and also tint.

There's an idea of what the backseat space is, it's very much dependent on how tall you are. It's not the best place to cart different types of people around in. You'll know when you see one in person and adjust the front seat to your comfort and take a look at the backseat.

I have a great perspective when it comes to comparing the A4 vs A6, because I just got my B7 A4 in February, and my dad got a B7 A6 in the middle of last year. His car was the inspiration behind my choice of an A4, which was more in my price range. I'm actually shocked to hear from that other person that an A6 was near the same price as what I paid for my A4, tho.....maybe I got ripped off!

I am 6'2", and when I have the seat set up how I want it, there is VERY little room behind me; my 14 year old sister would even be cramped. However, I also find I have tons of room to scoot up, and I don't mind doing that at all when I have passengers in the back seats.

That being said, the A6 never felt terribly spacious either, even with my parents who are on the shorter side sitting up front when we go out as a family. My knees definitely hit the back of the seat in front of me if I point them forward, so I guess u could say the A6 causes me to do LESS of a spread-eagle to fit, but in the end there's still more room.

I'd say if you can get an A6 for near or the same price with the same miles and options as an A4, go for it. However, the A4 has plenty of versatility with respect to making room for rear-seat passengers, and it also is just a great car overall - not to mention the 2.0T engine and overall A4 platform is more mod-friendly.

Either way, the friends telling you that you're crazy are just jealous, and trying to keep you from getting a much more badass car overall than they have! Best of luck with the choice, friend, and welcome to AZ!

A4 = cramped. Also, you may want to reconsider using it for a realtor's car. Clients with children WILL damage your car. Someone else mentioned a used SUV or even a mid-size low cost sedan can be roomy and cheap.

White would be a little more conservative, especially if your going to be driving clients around.
