Reasons why i fuel pump would go so soon?

I have a 2004 and the fuel pump died on me yesterday. It is WAY too soon for this to happen. Any ideas why it would go so soon? It's fixed now, but really sucked.

    Thanks

I know that you changed out your filter not too long ago. Has any issue came up since then? I am waiting for my fuel filter to come in. I started to hear a slight buzzing sound from the rear of my car recently and hope this fixes this problem.

also if you ran it to low ever, it can cause the fuel pump to fail or go weak...

mine went too...even earlier than yours...conviently 3 days after my factory warranty expired....good thing im certified...i suspected a local shell of dealing watered down gas...my performance always suffered after buying from there...and they were always 10 cents cheaper than everyone else...i havent been there since it went...they also arent a shell station anymore..and ive heard other ppl having problems from them...big station too

mine went at 55K as well (2004 model), but i had never changed the fuel pump and i had been running the tank really close to E before putting some more in... our pumps are cooled by the fuel so i think that led to its death as well...
