I have a similiar noise coming from my driver side. It only happens at slow speeds and its like a like "thump". However I'm not going over any bumps, just on flat pavement.

EDIT: I even feel it on the floor panel where I rest my foot next to the clutch. A subtle "thump"

Im beginning to think its something to do with my front drive shaft.

brake calipers? When I put on my control arms, I didn't take off my calipers...unless you're talking about another caliper that I don't know about yet...

    clunks are control arms, generally.

If it is the front suspension, take out the shock and check the nut that comes from the body of the shock through the plate at the top and the rubber surround, mine came loose and caused a clunking in the front. Could be that.

Ditto. I have the Startup racing GT's and that top nut has to be completely tight. Anything less than that and you will get the clunks.

okay so a lot of people have the problem now i dont feel so bad but mine is coming from the rear passenger and it only seems loud over bumps at slow speeds im gonna check as soon as i get the parts to fix my cv boot in the front so i can check it all at once but does it sound like an axle problem or could it be something else... thanks

I have the same exact problem to god dam T. I can't figure it out everything is tight, nothing is loose. I am running a Vogtland GT suspension and can't figure it out. I just tightened the top bolt and nut going through the top last night on the rear passenger coil and have yet to take it for a spin to see if it was because of that.

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

I had the same sound for a year before I had it looked at, ended up being a broken ball joint on my lower forward control arm. My upper control arm bushings were also shot and I had those replaced at the same time.

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

Is there a possibility there could be a broken "steering" rod?

This problem didn't occur until I took my S to the dealership to get it aligned after installing the tire rods and all the control arms.

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

well if you replaced all (8) control arms, then I highly doubt a ball joint broke already

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

I as well just replaced all front control arms and tie rods and am having the issue coming from the rear passenger side area. I also installed the Vogtlands at the same time as the control arms. I did read over that if the top bolt going through the spindle for the coil over is just a little loose that will make sounds over bumps. I tightened that and haven't gone for a road test.

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

I just fixed the same problem I had a loose bolt on the end of the sway bar on the drivers side. I would check the torque of everything on that side (upper and lower control arms etc)

Did you notice the car pulling to one side while driving? Abnormal tire wear?

okay well it seems mine was the control arm in the rear the bolt going the the strut housing was tightened good enough so if anyone else is having that problem they should definately check that out cause it could be an easy fix like it was for me

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

    I found my issue....

    brake rotors are loose.

Apparently while I'm driving the rotors are on it own program, so as I'm rolling, the rotors are just rolling along until they lock and than whenever a rotation goes through, it gets loose a again.

So now, to fix a loose rotor.

Re: weird clunking noise over bumps???

well it was the upper control arm in the rear passenger side which i think theres only one which your strut goes into the metal housing then the control arm goes thru the housing as well, sry if im not too good at describing parts i can work on all this stuff just not good at describing it but if u need more info ill keep a watch on the thread just ask me and ill help as much as possible
