Hello All,
I am joining the forum and will be lurking around for the most part as I don't have an A4 yet, but am looking at getting one. I have been doing some reading here and at a few other forums (mostly A4mods.com & audiforums.com) to find out about the next potential car on my list.
I am a Mustang guy deep down but I think it is time for me to get into a better daily driver. I have owned 3 Mustangs over the past 10 years; a 67 coupe that is my hobby/fun car, a 68 coupe that was a project and was recently sold and an 01 GT that is my current daily driver. Since I have gotten rid of my 68 coupe I have also been considering trading in the 01 and moving into something more practical and hopefully more dependable for a daily driver.
I have done some reading and have had plenty of my questions answered by some of the A4 noob threads on this and the other forums. I look to learn a bit more before making my decision and I hope you guys can help spread some light on some of these questions of mine.
1. What do the typical bolt-ons get the B6 A4 power range? I am really only looking at doing something like a Magnaflow exhaust, chip, FMIC and maybe a DV at the most. I have read that the CAI's don't help much, but it would be good to know if one is recommended to support other mods.
2. What is drive-ability like for a likely modded B6 A4? I have test driven these stock and I enjoy their ride quality and smoothness. Would any of these mods make the car troublesome to drive at times?
3. Aside from feeling underpowered, what else should I expect if I do make the switch? Has anyone gone from something similar to an A4?
I'm sorry for the lengthy post, but I look forward to some feedback from you guys. Thanks for your time and I look forward to learning more about these cars.
