    Windshield Wipers Don't Work...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am curious to know if anyone has also experienced and dealt with my problem. My windshield wipers just stopped working. I turn them on and they move half an inch and stop. They move a little more later, but they don't work like they need too.

I would like to try and fix this myself, and I don't know if I need to replace the motor, it's the ECU (APR Stage 1), or something else.... Thoughts?

It sounds like it could be the switch, or it could be one of the control modules in the steering column. My wipers would stop working if I was accelerating, and it turned out to be both control modules in the steering column. Just a though.

Probably wiper transmission seized up. Its a common problem for our cars. Happened to me about a year ago.

Same thing happened to me. Thought it was the motor but figured i would take the wipers off myself and see. I popped the wiper arms off, sprayed a shit load of lubricant on them and moved them manually with my hand and a pair of vice grips for about half hour. Put them back on, work like a charm. Havent had a problem since. My advice would be to try that first before the stealership hits you for $300 for a new motor and labor to put it in. Also, before you take the wiper arms off, outline where they sit on the windshield with painters tape so they are in the correct spot when you put them back on

    Same Problem!

This happened to me about a month ago as well, they began to slow down first however. I took them apart and greased the wiper linkage shafts with Mobil 1 synthetic grease, so far they are working very nicely. I may do this once a year just to prevent this from happening again.
