Since I just got a new turbo....I thought I'd get some new shoes to go with it.
I LOVE the fact I can run 275's on this and NOT rub 1 bit.

    Re: New Shoes

wouldn't 275 be too wide for a little engine(2L), it will only degrade the acceleration performance with exceesive traction but if you put 400whp on it .

    Re: New Shoes

As these wheels were custom built, all you have to do is order the correct offset for the brakes, and the tires. I have no rubbing at all.

Darren is right. Its all about offsets and rim design. If you have a rim in which the spokes spider out like the Volk CE28's or in my case Tenzo Type-M's, you can run a high offset and still clear the calipers. I found ET43-45 works best. Then you gotta squeeze the tire on a 8.5" rim which pulls the tire just narrow enough to get them under the car without bashing a fender or rubbing the inner arm.
Some tires tend to run narrower than others. For example the Toyo T1R in a 275 has an overall width of 10.6". A Toyo Proxes 4 (my street tires) have the same overall width of 10.6" but in a 265.
Some tires are just the opposite and run really wide. I've had 2 sets of 265 width street tires that fit fine but when I test fitted a Toyo R888 race tire for the track in a 265 it was way too wide so I went with 255's. My track R888 in 255's are about the same width as my 265 street tires.
It seems from my experience that the biggest tire you can get under our cars is one that has a overall width no larger than 10.6". Although, this number should only be used as a guideline because the tire manufacturers' specs don't seem very accurate. Test fitting is the best option.
