dyno'd yesterday. almost lost car.

made 282.8whp and 251.0wtq @ 20psi. uncorrected. 93 octane. this was @ 6300rpm.

wastegate dump melted the front right strap. so the car fish tailed and blew off the dyno right after peak power was made. car sort of just shifted to the right and ended up on the side of the dyno. front right tire was pegged up against the rollers that were still spinning. rubbed a nice concave spot in the tire. i tried to get a pic of it but it was nothing worth showing with an iphone pic.

we were doing a dyno day and i thought id put my car up just because i havent dyno'd it since february. the whole situation could have been really bad. but everything and everyone, thankfully, made it out ok. except for the tire of course.

that pretty much topped off my weekend. i came out friday morning to my car to find my radio, about $900 worth of cash ($80 cash and $805 postal money order), and my vagcom laptop and all accessories missing from my car.

yea, it was pretty scary...

i saw the car kinda lurch forward a little as it started boosting hard.. then the whole thing jumped sideways, there were some sparks and lots of smoke... luckily nothing was really damaged, there was a lot of potential for it.

strange thing is, evan told ian to move right before the pull.. he wouldnt have gotten hurt where he was sitting, but it would have been a lot scarier for him..

lots. ive posted them many times. turbo is 3076. with f*cked up compressor fins. highest dyno is 327whp btw.

Ian, 3082's make the same power but have worse spool than the 3076.. just put a new chra in there or buy a 35r whole and cut your losses.

You have to really watch those wastegate dumps. I saw the exact same thing happen one time except the car was a 900whp honda, which then went through a wall and of all things- knocked over a nitrous fill station. Luckly it didn't whack the valve off the tank.

Another thing to watch is that whatever the ghetto rigged o2 sensor probe is doesn't tip over onto a strap. I had a strap melt about halfway through from that once.

yea. ive been through this a couple times now. everyone says chra or new turbo. there is no in between. maybe times have changed in the past couple months.
