October ACNA cruise

I don't know about you guys but i'm getting sick of being stuck in the city, so let's start planning a drive for next month!

For a while now i've been wanting to head up to jerome to check that out. Here is the route i was thinking would be cool:

But i haven't been up there since i was a little kid, so i'm not sure what would be the best path to take, or how bad traffic is on the weekends. It looks like there will be some pretty awesome twisties though. Anybody else interested in making this happen? Lets discuss

ive taken that rout just to get to cottonwood just so i can go through the twistiest definitely a sweet ride im in

jerome is a unique town but really small but it has a couple big parking lots with awesome scenery

Would like to attend, just wondering if we could plan the route with less time on the I-17. Sort of defeats the purpose of the drive and getting away from the city. Welcome thoughts suggestions?........

Chris that's a pretty good idea, we could potentially meet up in fountain hills instead of anthem and go north through payson rather than taking the 17. This would be fun but it would make it a lot longer though and we might have to include a scheduled gas stop.

I like the new route better. I have no problem with a longer trip.

What do you guys think about going to Woods Canyon Lake? Its about 30 miles east of Payson, so it would probably add another 1hr or 1hr and a half to the trip. I've never been there but it looks really cool from pics that I've seen. I dunno, maybe it'll make the trip too long? What do you guys think?

Agreed about minimizing the time on I-17. Trying to keep 15 cars together on the 17 gets a little hectic.

I'm definately down for this one. I've done that route in reverse order (I17 up to Prescott, then over to Jerome and back down), and its great!

I might want to take the mustang out though, I'm not sure how big a deal that would be (I can always take the avant if that's not a good idea), but I've never had the chance to take the 'stang out on one of these runs.

Its exactly 1 month away, which is enough time to request off from work for people that need to, and not too far ahead (like last time...I think a bunch of people had forgotten they had committed to the drive 2 months earlier, lol)

The 26th was the date i suggested to brian when i e-mailed him a couple days ago. I haven't heard back from him, but we should be good to go for that day.

no new developments i guess... but it's still going to happen of course. i just don't think any of us are very familiar with the area, so it's hard to make progress on getting an itinerary set up. working on that.

found a good meet up spot, the starbucks near the corner of Shea & Saguaro about a mile from the 87. Probably be best to all meet up around 9:00am and roll out a bit after that.

i just did part of this drive last night... well early this morning... just thougth you guys would like to know that on the way in to cottonwood there is construstion as well as when leaving... there are a couple patches where the road is not finished and is dirt... there are also multiple bumps that really suck to go over :(

shitty... most of the group has a pretty low ride height so thats not good at all. thanks for the heads up matt.

so what does everyone else think we should do...... maybe tortilla flats instead? or would it be worth it to deal with the crappy road conditions? i'm open to any suggestions

Same day, different place - we are going to meet up in the southeast corner of the fiesta mall parking lot off of Alma School & the 60. Meeting at 9, then heading up to tortilla flat... it will be about a hundred mile round trip from the meet up spot. It looks like Jerome is going to have to wait until all that construction up there is done and the roads are more suitable for us.
