    Misfire problems

So i dont have the car here, im trying to diagnose with second hand information. The car is a 2001 b5 a4, 1.8t. My brother was driving normally on the highway when the engine started to make bad sounds and shaking. got to a store and checked the codes. It tells us that there was a misfire in cyl 1,2,3. So iv had him do the basics, make sure all the plug/coils are on tight, i have him changing/checking the spark plugs now. I was also thinking some bad gas in the tank, so hes going to fill up as well at a new gas station.

My fears however is that its fuel delivery, clogged fuel filter(not sure when changed) which i believe is a somewhat big job to replace right? bad fuel pump, although when pumps went out on me before they just kinda went and car turned off. Fuel pressure reg, low pressure could cause some misfires.

Would a code pop for low fuel pressure? can it detect that? if so that would rule out those problems. At first i thought it was a bad coil, then the code reads 3 cylinders so thats hard to believe.

Im outta ideas, so hopefully some of you have some for me. Thanks a lot

    Re: Misfire problems

thanks for the reply, i just did some searching on forums and your right that sounds like it could cause this problem. Unfortunently the article i just read said they removed this part in 2000 (mine being an 01) since i dont have the car here i cant check, so im on hold with parts people at audi atm.

EDIT: Audi guy said it was a vaild part for this car, also said the part is like $350, which i dont come close to having atm. Non-returnable so if its not it then im SOL there too. Is this a part i could get from a generic distributor?
