S4 Rear, should I paint the middle valance body color?

I am getting my S4 Rear installed this week and the Body Shop just called and they want to know if they should paint the lower valance (between the exhaust tips) to match the body, or if they should just leave it unpainted (Grey). I am not sure what I should do, it comes on the S4 unpainted stock and I think it might look odd and stand out painted, but then again I have a dark colored car (Ming Blue) so it might look good, I am sure it will cost extra too, I am finding out right now. Does anyone have any pictures of it painted on any color A4/S4? Thanks for any input.

They called back and are saying that it is comes primed, is the grey just primer then? Or do I have to have it painted that grey or black color?

thats pretty much the hwole purpose of the S4 rear ...its for that rear valance.

Mine was color-matched to the matte black roof rails on my Avant (otherwise the same color as the black window trim)

Ok well I just gave them the go ahead to do the matte/satin black, thanks for the input. I do think it would look a little odd painted body color and ruin the look of the bumper.

Definitely stick with the grey or maybe matte black. Color-matched would ruin the whole point. Here are some pics of my Ming with S4 front and rears. It's a work in progress, so no hatin'.

where did you get the s4 rear?? i really do not want to get it from the dealer. i have been looking on ebay forever already for one. i have an s4 front and sides for now, so i really wanna complete the look

I opted against the general concensus and painted mine to match. Mainly because i'm debadged and I don't want people to think i'm trying to fool them into thinking i have an S4. Also because i thought the unpainted part looks kinda cheap. I was originally thinking of doing it semi-gloss black just to match the rest of the factory black trim; I think that'd look better then flat black. I might try vinyl so i can just take it off if i don't like it.

I just had the body shop order it for me, I think it was like $577, plus $100-something for the chrome strip that runs on top of the bumper.

Otherwise I would have prob ordered it from DTH...

I had mine painted flat black too, and i added the flat black upper bumper moulding. I'll get some pics later.

Speaking of carbon fiber... Greg, weren't you going to be making a a valence with vanes for the rear bumper or something? If they were subtle, I'd definitely be down for that.

guys he got rear ended in boston a while ago and is just getting around to fixing it! so the s4 rear came from the dealer through insurance.

smitty, aarons got his valance on his s4 painted grey with the rest of his car. personally, i think you should paint it black. i think that would look tits. this is going to be done before saterdays show at ira correct?

I went ahead and told them to paint it a matte black, should look sweet. And yes they told me it should be done this week, which means I should have it for Saturday's Ira show which I am excited about!
