    Re: 3" test pipe

i have vmr's 2.5 but have yet to install it. i heard 3 inch gives less power because it doesnt have the right amound of backpressure but thats what i have heard so it could mean anything. anyone know the pro's and con's of the 2.5 and 3 inchers??? i assume 3 will give a deeper louder sound too

I have the E-Code Tuning TP and I love it. The car responded well to it, good gains down low and better flow up top.

a friend has a custom 3 inch tp/dp combo.. it doesnt really do much, just helps him out a little bit with the flow on nitrous

I thought the less restriction a turbo car had from the turbo the better it would be. I heard naturally aspirated cars should have back pressure.

    Re: 3" test pipe

3" pipes can lead to turbo problems down the road plus you don't get as much power from a 3" than a 2.5 inch. id go with the 2.5 man..

    Re: 3" test pipe

I'm running the ATP 3incher and now that i've had t a while, i don't see the point... I've tried to think of how it would make sense to hook up a 3" tp tube directly to a 2.5" exhaust, it never added up. Honestly i think there could be, and probably are, some backpressure and/or airflow issues, but it's not noticeable at all. If i ever get around to it i'll probably order VMR's 2.5er but until then, i haven't noticed any problems.

    Re: 3" test pipe

you loose a lot of the low end torque getting the 3.0 instead of the 2.5 which is what the test pipes mostly about :-/ and HP of course :D

    Re: 3" test pipe

don't have exact numbers, but the guy that does all the work on my car and many of my friends cars / peoples cars on the forum told me this. Id defiantly bet good money on his word lol You'll end up paying a lot more for a 3.0 test pipe than the VMR one anyways.

    Re: 3" test pipe

Id switch to REVO man. REVO has a stage 2 software that eliminates the CEL and adjusts your engine to provide more fuel so you dont get any fuel cuts. I think to go straight to stage 2 is $550 for REVO. I have REVO stage 2 on my a3 and i love it.

Go to an exhaust shop and ask them to space out the o2 sensor and that should do it.

    Re: 3" test pipe

turbo car do not like back pressure... period, point blank. That is why guys with high hp cars are all running 3 + inch exhausts and downpipes. N/a engine NEED back pressure, turbo cars do not.

I have defoulers on mine and no CEL, i know it wont help you out with fuel but it will help you with the CEL. I dont have any pics, and im not anywhere near my car to take pics so i cant really help you out. I just used two defoulers.

So what is the final verdict.. 2.5" testpipe will give more torque over the 3"? 3" is over-kill? 2.5" is adequate? Have stage 2 unitronic with the CEL delete, so thats not a concern, but when I go to the dealer, will a 02 spacer and the stock tune give me a CEL or not is the question...

    Thanks in advance

i think 3" inch test pipe is best when coupled with a 3"inch downpipe... get a custom downpipe made, I probably will soon ;)
