Chopper noise with moon roof

Hi,
Does anyone else with a C5 A6 have this problem?
If I have just the moon roof open (all the way) and accelerate form a stop, or when coming to a stop, the wind noise sounds like a friggin helicopter. Also if you drive with the rear seats down with the moon roof open its sound 1000 times louder. I almost think it would cause the rear window to shatter.

I have tried with the moon roof open and just the front 2 windows open 2 inches, and all 4 windows open the same, its still there.

If I just open it almost the whole way it doesn’t do it at all.

Why does it do it?? Can it be fixed??
Just wanted to share my frustration.

Not sure if the C5 A6 has a little deflector at the front of the opening which pops-up or not, but if this is broken it will be louder than normal...worth a check. If not, you could look into getting an aftermarket deflector which will reduce the wop-wop-wop sound down to pretty much zero. Not the prettiest solution, but they do work.

don't open the sunroof all the way. stop the dial about 3 or so clicks from fully open. on my c5 allroad there is a little white dot drawn to line up the dial to for the perfect opening with no chopper noise. hope this helps

Yup, I get it too. As stated above only when the roof is the only thing open. If you open a window a tiny bit it won't happen and if you close the roof one or two clicks on the knob it won't happen.. Something about the aerodynamics of the car.

I think I read somewhere that the dot is the "Comfort Position."

I open it all the way to the 2nd before last click. that works good for me no chop chopin

Just crack one of the rear window open a bit to eliminate your chopper.

I have the same issue with my C5 and did not have a problem with my A4. I asked a few people the same question and it comes down to a slight flaw in in the shape of the roof. When the roof is open the air comes arcross in and hits the back side of the sunroof making that noise and cracking the windows is the only thing that has worked for me.

I will try setting it open leaving 2-3 clicks left.

That or I just drive with the moonroof tilted up.
