    Left Xenon dipped?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have had an annoying problem with my car lately. The left headlight is dipped, and I have the idiot light on in the dash telling me that. I haven't done anything with that headlihgt aside from removing it and installing it to put my S4 front bumper on. Any ideas about what could be wrong? I'd rather not take it to the dealer and pay $100 for them to tell me something simple.

You need to clear your codes with vag com if your lights aren't actually dipped. Pretty simple - http://www.a4mods.com/#index.php?pag...autolevel.html

Yeah, but I actually have a dipped left light. Could it be the motor is messed up?

Have you tried resetting them? The procedure is in that link to do so.. I would try that before anything else. I believe the code for the A4 is 00060 or something like that. Just make sure you do the whole adaptation learn thing or your car will never get rid of the code and relearn the old position

dipped headlight just means low beam. It's saying that on of your low beams are out, or at least thats what the car thinks. Check all your connections again....

    Re: Left Xenon dipped?

two things for you....the left headlight should be slightly lower than the right...its in the manual and explains why..also i got that light on my dash when going around corners..audi ended up replacing my rear view mirror (which has compass) and it has yet to return...they said its integrated somehow into that...

    Re: Left Xenon dipped?

The left headlight is much lower than the right, like lower than it was when I bought the car and nearly pointing at the ground. That's not normal. And here in England, the left headlight is supposed to be the higher of the two. I don't have VAG-com, and that link doesn't work anyway. I guess I'll just deal with it till I install my Ecode Bi-Xenons?

My left one is doing this as well. For me it was moisture getting inside of it I have to replace the clear plastic. Vag com cleared mine for almost a week then it went back on.

^what he said. 'dipped' simply means the car thinks the main xenon bulb is out. has nothing to do with the position of the lamp, lower or higher or...

    Re: Left Xenon dipped?

Easy fix, xenon level sensor that goes under the car, connected to suspension. Most likely rear driver side. Get one from ECS tuning.

Had this problem on mine and got it fixed a month later after getting ecodes. Turn on lights, they go up/down. Start driving, come to a stop, driver light dips. Turn off/on lights, resets to normal level, then does it again.

There are voltage levels that they should be operating at that the vag-com can tell you if they're low, which means faulty sensor.
