    Warning: Noob Questions!!!

    At the moment I'm saving up my money to get myself an S4. In the mean time, I would like to learn as much as I possibly can before I buy one. My first question is besides the 80K and 90K services, what other services should I make sure are done before I buy one? What are some common problems that I encounter? and as I understand it, the euro version had 275 HP but the american version was detuned to meet emissions standards, what was detuned and is there any easy way to retune it to get a little more HP?

    unlesss you have enough money to buy one and enough money to buy that same car over again. don't buy one because they become money pits, in maintenece and mods.

    Well at the moment I've got a 98 Jetta GLX that i paid 3700 for and have put right about 5000 into in just getting it to run properly. I'm used to maintenance costs, granted parts will probably be a little more expensive but that worth the cost in my opinion.

    Its not in order or corrosponding to any specific questions, but to be honest those are the answers to about 85% of the questions asked...

    Research the following pages:

    * http://homepage.mac.com/edyjun1/S4/index.htm
    * http://www.s4biturbo.com/links.php
    * http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
    * http://www.audidiy.com/
    * http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext.html

    Hopefully that'll help.

    Another tip...be prepared to drop at least 1-2Gs on the car upon first purchasing it. I've noticed that almost everyone has to do some sort of maintenance after purchase.

    I would have to say any car with 100k or more on it that has 300+hp is going to be a money pit. I work at a Honda dealership and the "ricers" here spend more money on there civics to make any kind of hp and are always breaking shit. I think a good rule of thumb to go by Whitseml is that more hp= more $$ to spend to fix things that break. My S has 125k, has been well maintained and in the 5k I've owned it, I only have replaced tires, and a radiator due to the viscus fan breaking. (I now have 3 electric fan).

    Everyone's experience is different, just be prepared for the worst. Good luck
