APR Stage 1 Trial - FAIL!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Saturdays are supposed to be good. Not today. I went to ETA Tuning (Euro Technik in Sanford) to get the APR trial this morning. I was soooo exited about it. Filled up with Shell V-Power, dusted off my podi, texted my friends and sped up 417 to Sanford.

I got there, filled out the form, gave my keys to Dave (very quiet dude), and waited. Then the nice girl out front starts texting back and forth with Dave in the shop. Uhhhhhh, turns out a previous owner already had the APR trial, and ETA couldn't give me a trial without clearing out the previous person's info!!!!!!! Damn you, "Jason Smith," wherever you are.

How do you clear out the previous person's info? Call APR during normal business hours, which do not include Saturday. Have to go back next week.

So, I drove back home with my tailpipe between my legs.

You may have to contact APR and let them know you're the new owner and provide documentation proving so (no experience with this, just a guess). Otherwise, try GIAC or REVO trials, they are pretty much the same thing.

I was tempted to do that. I highly doubt I won't end up converting from trial to real-deal. I'm selling my bar exam prep books on eBay to finance it - few more days left in the auctions...

I thought about 1+, but I won't have the cash for clutch, exhaust, and injectors for quite some time. Plus, I don't think I'm going to go much more power-wise. No BT plans or anything like that. If you could do 1+ with stock clutch and still have fun with it, I would consider the injectors.

you wont need a clutch or exhaust right away for the 1+ flash.

Youre better off waiting a little longer and buying the injectors (check the classifieds) and getting 1+.

    just my 2 cents.

achtuning has a 30 day risk free return on APR software. maybe ECS has the same thing. if you buy it try it out for 30 days and don't like it get the refund.

When I got my revo programming the dealer had trouble loading the ttrial version as well. They had my car for about 4 hrs. They felt bad for having me wait for so long so they gave me the stage 1 for half price. As a side note, go ahead and do the +1. I'm tired of stage 1 already and want more, lol. Good luck.

I'm actually reading your thread from June when you had the same dilemma - now I'm thinking of getting the injectors and going 1+. I can pay for the flash myself, and then my wife can just consider the injectors an early birthday present to me...

If the car had trial flashed in the past you don't even need to go back, just give them a call and after paying they will give you the code how to unlock full version via cruise control..

I wouldn't go straight to 1+ because you won't be able to feel the difference from 1 to 1+.

I had Stage 1 for a year before going 1+, which is free to upgrade (except for the shipping of the ECU to/from APR), you just need to buy the injectors (AZ seller - MANGUYEN ).

I saw that on the APR website - that you can activate via a code. You think the software is the same even if the previous trial was a few years ago? They don't do minor rolling updates? Like "APR Service Pack 3"? lol

I've been researching injectors all night. Those things are expensive! I saw manguyen's posts. I'll see if he still has any. My friend has a TT. I might just go over to his house and trade.

Unlike some other tuners APR only has 2 revisions to their B6A4 software..
Even if the trial was done in V.1 you can get free upgrade..

IMHO, there is quite a difference. I wanted to test this theory so I went Stage 1 first for a month. Then upgraded and now I have a wider "power" band. Most noticeable in gears 3-5, but nonetheless it was a big improvement.

Ok - you guys are total enablers!!! I searched my closets and drawers and found some old watches from my collection that I don't wear anymore. It's amazing how fast you can raise cash if you really try. Within the past week I've found about $600 worth of stuff I don't need in the house anymore! I PM'd manguyen re. injectors.

I have Martini's custom A-pillar gauge mount in the Classifieds if anyone is interested... Interior/B6 forum...

They're currently backordered from manguyen, been waiting on mine for a couple weeks now. I'm itching to get the injectors/flash, FMIC, meth kit, and cooler winter air in there. Heatsoak on a stg1 flash feels like stock.

ugh. I'm worried about heatsoak in Orlando - it's ridiculously hot in the summer.

Where does one get this flash? Does it not require supporting mods like injectors, etc?

You won't really need any supporting mods unless you wanted a Stage 1+ flash, which requires TT225 or APR's own injectors.
