    Any chips for a B7 S4 Tip?

I looked at a few out there but they don't *specifically* say they work with the Tips. Looking for the power chip, vice the Tip reprogramming chip BTW, which I've gathered is also unavailable. Revo? GIAC?

There is no chip at this time for our transmissions. There is just no way for them to read the chip at this time. The TCU is in the trans...ya it is in the transmission

so ECU yes TCU not yet

So which chips work? I was interested in the GIAC b/c of the ease of the flashloader.

I think everyone is talking about "tip chips", which increase the speed of the shifts.

If you are looking for an actual "Tip" chip, there aren't any right now. I have talked to Vast performance and they are working on one but who knows how long.

I contacted them as well. Come to find out that the TCU is in the trans. At this time they are the only ones that are working on this. I Don't see any other companies trying to jump in the game. Most after market companies seem to be scared of the tip.

OK, just so we are clear here, I'm asking about a chip for our engines to increase hp (timing, 93 Oct., etc.) not anything to do with actually changing the shift stuff on the tranny. I'm looking for a few more hp. Suggestions?

Re: Any chips for a B7 S4 Tip?

From what I have seen APR is on top of the game or look for a reputable custom tune. GIAC is nice but they seem to be falling off in the past few years and have never been really effective in the N/A game. REVO is OK

I am actually trying to test out every tune I can. I have gone in a ride or driven in cars with several tunes. So far the best has been APR

Wow! That is exactly what I was interested in. Please elaborate on the differences you felt. I know realistically that there isn't really that much more to squeeze out of out 4.2s, but every bit helps and why not? I always fill up with 93 anyways so might as well enjoy a little extra power bump.

I had an x-Cal2 SCT tune flashed for my Panoz and they couldn't get a reading of any kind off the OBDII on my smog test. Anyone had any similar troubles with the APR chip? I would imagine it would be visible to the dealer so if you break something in the engine you're on your own, right? Any dealers support performance mods on cars still under warranty?

Re: Any chips for a B7 S4 Tip?

I have the GIAC chip on my TIP and love it! The last time I checked, APR didn't have chips for every B7 ECU. Search under my username and you'll find some lively discussions about chip tuning on our B6/B7's.
Cool stuff with a little growl!

Probably has to do with the restrictive exhaust on the stocker. Maybe cat-back first would be a better plan of action...
