    Re: turbos?

Not unless you have a 3.0 and want to build the motor. I suppose you could put a GT kit on the 2.7t but don't quote me cuz I haven't heard of one, but if it works on an S4 it should work in the A6

    Re: turbos?

RS6 turbo would be one (RS4 has larger wheel than K04, no?), but I understand turbos alone won't do that much without fuel changes as well. Hence, $. Daft and Endeee are the resident experts on this.

Anybody using an S-flow intake mod? I was thinking about that as inexpensive tweak.

    Re: turbos?

if you want noticible power gains then you will need the chip and a K&N or S-flo air filter... new DVs with fresh silcone lines... so $600 is the cheapest your gonna get for such a great power gain... as for i am currently saving up for tip chip and giac chip combo.. 1100 well worth it!

    Re: turbos?

the S-flo look o.k.. but for almost 200bucks just for a 8-9hp gain.. that's expensive.. 22bucks per horse..

I heard the tip chip gives it a smoother ride and shorten the log from 1 sec to .2 sec, or something close to that figure. i'm too lazy to look it up. is this chip only for older models of the 2.7t??.. cuz all i seen is for 2000 to 2002 models..

anyways the cheapest mod for your money is i guess a chip. but 600 + labor(75). and that's about a 50hp gain.. $13.50 per horse!!!!

    Re: turbos?

$22 is hardly "expensive" -- chip is obviously cheapest bang -- just think about Stage 3.

    Re: turbos?

You can put whatever turbo/turbo's you want to on your car as long as you can find a way to bolt it up or find a spot for it. Now obviously the bigger the turbo the more lag and you get and your going to be making more power so you will have to strengthen the internals. Your best bet for the lowest price and direct bolt on would be ko4's.

Besides a chip, do the darintake, get some downpipes and your set.

alright... so i take it that just eliminating the stock airbox and putting a k & n cone type filter on does nothing for it?. advantages of replacing the stock DV's? and last question... how would i go about making the turbo sound more noticeable. not loud but just want it to be there

You're not going to see much gains by replacing the stock airbox. Stock DV's leak, mine must have been real bad, after i replaced mine I gained a couple of PSI and it just felt a lot stronger.

Putting a cone filter on, replacing the diverter valves, downpipes and exhaust will make the turbos more noticeable. The downpipes and exhaust being the most noticeable difference for me

taking out the stock airbox wouldnt be really recommended. you will heatsoak your intake. the AWE s-flo gets installed inside of your stock airbox and i think its awesome.

    Re: turbos?

Audirs -- I've been confused about conical vs S-flo. I think you hit it right, esp for "stage 2" -- keep it in stock airbox (b/c heat) seems to be the right advice. There's also the Darintake matter of extra holes I also don't really comprehend. Anyway $2 per hp added seems fair to me.

see PM to you re your catback plans -- figured I shouldn't hijack, as I tend to do so
