silica packet helps. go raid your shoe boxes. You can also try to rtv seal the black portion of the housing to the clear part of the lense.

why wouldn't you try the o-rings? Its cheap and easy to do. and completely reversible if for some reason you wanted to take them out.

the filing down of the shaft to make the new o-ring fit is what has me worried, with my mechanical expertise i'll probably end up ruining it,therefore causing a bigger expense.

No filing is needed, just graphite powder.
Even if you use silica gel packs, you'll still need to remove & open your headlights.

That's right, no modification required. just slip on the larger o-rings . fixed.

    Re: headlight mods

ok it's finished, but if this doesn't fix the problem are there any aftermarket housings that are not vented that will fit on the car without having to change anything?

Did you use a bigger o-ring or add the silica gel packs?

^ I couldn't find a #6 o-ring up here (I don't know the size comparison between stock & #6), so I bought some assorted ones & sized up from the stock one where it was snug but the shaft could still turn.
