    Lightweight 17" Wheel Options

For those of us that dont want to sacrifice ride or the integrity of our rims (additionally the extra tire cost). I dont care about running anything larger than a 328mm BBK.

What are our options for a lightweight 17" wheel?

    OZ Ultralegarra
    Kosei K1-TS (discontinued)

Comps are light as shit, but they are as soft as mashed potatoes. I've bent two rims, in my lifetime, both were comps. They're hot and light, if you have the streets for em. Watchout though.

What size? From what I've read the 18's are soft.

Avalon Motorsports sells 17 inch SSR Comp RS... I have them in a 17x8.5 Balls expensive though, still think it's cheaper than buying LE37s, not sure though.

I've had the SSR Comps since I bought the car and never had a problem. I love the performance of them, but they aren't real flashy. Helps me keep that "sleeper" look. You should also check into Flik wheels. Light and cheap.

    Re: Lightweight 17" Wheel Options

FYI, the SSR Comp C RS wheels that Avalon sells are not the same as the ones I have. They are the newer composites that are slightly stronger and heavier, but a little more expensive.

I dunno about Flick wheels being light. Their 17" wheel is 22lbs!
The 18" Volk's that I got (GT-N) were about 22lbs but they were made for 275 width tires. I think they were 8.5 or 9" wide.
    CE28N's 17x7.5 are listed at 14lbs!

I would place Flicks as "not heavy" wheels, but I think for a 17" to be light it would have to be 20lbs and under.

    Re: Lightweight 17" Wheel Options

The Enkei's and OZ Ul's are the only two that come to mind that are still sold widely. You could always go the custom, forged route. Other discontinued/rare ones to keep an eye out for are: OZ SL's, BBS RC, BBS RK, OZ Chronos, and the Team Dynamic/Prodrive wheels. You should check the weight on BBS RGR's and VX's (although the former is forged...brake clearance will be the issue).

Flik's are light and cheap. I've sported them for two years now, My Lex's (discontinued but look somewhat like RS4 reps) weigh 18lbs for $99 a piece! Only scratch that has gone on them is from my own carelessness.

A great track wheel if nothing else..

Another really inexpensive light wheel is the enkei RPF1... They are cast though so keep that in mind if you have crummy roads.

I loved my RC's, super light also, around 18lbs iirc. Plus you can't go wrong with the classic BBS mesh wheels.
