stage 1 vs ko4

some kid from my home town who has an a4 quattro with a ko4, borla and drop in k&n. i'm running stage 1 software. he comes out of no where and wants to race this and that. i know i shouldnt win but can it be even close?

apr is calling 247hp and 286tq with an exhaust for the ko4.
apr is calling 215ho and 245tq with the stage 1.

if i disconnect my exhaust at the band clamp underneath the car will that give me any gain? i'm just trying to get as close as i can to this kid. not planning on winning unless he is a terrible driver.

any suggestions other then run him off the road? haha

A lot of variables will come in to play on this. How good of a driver are you vs him? Your sig shows that you are CVT so you might even have a close run. If you're both quattro then you'll pull with him till about 4500 RPM and then your turbo will start to lose breath, and he'll pull on you.

What programming is he running?

Hmm... where do you see CVT? I see his sig says 1.8T6MT. Either way... I have a CVT with pretty much every bolt on and 1+ and I pulled on a k04 b5 quattro.

nah i'm quattro with 6sp manual. i dont drive automatic if i have the choice. but your right i failed to mention the quattro part in my sig haha. my car pulls peek boost until about 5k then it falls about 8lbs to around 9.



This kid just messaged me saying hes only running stock boost cause he adjusted the wastegate? dont know why he would do that. anyway. i might have a fighting chance now haha. he said peek he's running 12lbs.

What year A4 does he have? Why would he have a K04 and no 1+ programming, though?

hes yanking my chain somewhere. i think hes got a boost controller and wont tell me. however i'm calling BS. i'll meet up with him tonight and check it out to see what he has. i was thinking of doing the n249 removal to help me out a little bit

he might be running it that way so that he doesn't have to get a K04 tune. Just turn it town and run it as a K03 basically.

true. but hes saying if we go for a run he's gonna turn it up. so im guess he has a mbc and is just trying to sound like he did some work to his car. i'm pretty sure his parents bought him the car and he saw k04 and threw it on real quick, now feels like an idiot and wants to feel good about it.

whatever you do, don't unbolt your exhaust or remove anything from the car just for a race. just tell him your car is slow. that way if you lose he didn't prove anything, and if you win he'll feel like shit.

tuned K04 > 1+ > 1 > K03 or K04 on stock tune/injectors

Gotta remember that a 15.0 and a 15.5 1/4mile time pretty much equates to the cars being next to each other with one slightly ahead. When applied to street racing, it's a much closer race than you'll think (most of the time)

I dont know how is you clutch but... a good launch with our car is significant in a race and not everybody can do a good launch... so, go practicing your launch and it could be a stong advantage for you!!!

ok so the kid drove like a complete A$$ but oh well.

we pulled onto the highway and he was infront of me on the ramp. i went for it cause i could hear him starting to go. i was pulling infront of him when we crest and there are 3 state troopers cause there is an accident. i slow down to the speed limit and this kid stays on it. i catch up to him once were out of sight again and he's weaving like crazy. i stay with him and then we get to a straight and i'm pulling up fast on him and he cuts me off. i slammed on the brakes and the car had a fit and started to slide for a split second. scary shit. anyway the kid drove like an a$$. we turn around going the other direction now and theres no traffic. he goes for the 1.2.3 horn beeps and go. so i say ok. i'm rolling in 5th(6speed) going 70mph. i floor it and were neck and neck so i hit 4th and start pulling on this kid real hard. i left him behind me. we go off our exits and he calls me up going yo son i got nothing. your tune isnt that hot this and that. in reality the kid talked up his forge splitter valve and his mufflers. all in all. the kid couldnt drive. got pissed i had him and drove crazy as a result. wasted my time. and got it.

haha oh well. i'm sure he'll figure it out somehow. the best part of it all was he was burning his clutch like no other trying to show off with some girl in his car cause he has a splitter valve. he tried getting me to join some car club to and i laughed at him

hmm... i dont know about the turbo cars but if you're racing why weren't you in 4th gear at 70mph, when you floored it you would've pulled harder...
