Got my calipers powdercoated today. They did an immaculate job. Just got the car back and it's dark but I was pretty excited. I'll post some clearer pics in the daylight! TT Performance in NJ. Thanks Matt!

    Re: Powdercoated Calipers

They charged $750.00 total. 6 hours labor @ $95, $140.00 for parts and powdercoating prep. I am going to put on the Stasis front-rotor upgrade in a few weeks... this will reallly make those discs pop.

Will take a bunch more pics tomorrow with some good light.

hey this really looks good. im not sure i would drop 750 for this without performance gains. you didnt want to spend a few hundred more for a brake kit of some sort? def looks good though with those thin spoked rims

    Re: Powdercoated Calipers

No brake kit for 1000 or even 1500 would give you 4 new calipers with rotors... you might get fronts but not rears. In any case I'm upgrading the front rotors in a few weeks for the stopping power - any more than that would be wasted on me. Thanks!

you are right on the price of full brake kits that is why i will probably never buy a full kit haha. personally i would paint my own calipers with a painting kit. i saw a diy on the forums a while ago on that. i just cant imagine a price like that for zero performance or vast look differences. post pictures after you get those discs on should look good

Wow, I paid way less than that to get a full set of wheels powdercoated. 6 hours is also an insane amount of time to powdercoat 4 small calipers.

doesn't look significantly different than spray can paint. our calipers have that textured look anyways so you can get the best paint job but it will still look rigid. so it is really pointless.

    Re: Powdercoated Calipers

G2 caliper paint off Tire Rack for $35 and 3-4 hours of my time... Granted I did paint the retaining springs that I wasn't supposed to. But that doesn't affect braking, it will just make it a little harder to take off the pads... Maybe you're more baller than me, but I sure hope you got a lap dance for $750.

    Re: Powdercoated Calipers

The G2 kit comes with a spray cleaner. Just spray it on and wipe them clean with a rag making sure you get all of the brake dust off so the paint sticks. After you clean them, you mix the paint mixture and it brushes on. They also say to not drive the car for 24 hours (I think, might be 12) to let the paint dry. Make sure you clean them in a well ventilated area, the spray stings the nostrils!

I personally recommend the purple color!! All the girls will think your car is "cute!"

    Re: Powdercoated Calipers

You guys might be missing the point.. It was a cosmetic upgrade. Paint chips easier than the powdercoating. The brake upgrades you guys are mentioning are all for rotors, not calipers. Show me a 4 caliper system for a grand and I'll stand corrected. Even a BBK is generally fronts only.

The performance part is next up with the upgraded rotors anyhow.

Also, sure, wheels are quick and easy to powdercoat - but they don't have seals and moving parts. You have to admit that brake calipers are a precision machine. They required time to disassemble, bleed then reassemble.

    Maybe I'm a baller - strippers meh.

I guess I can see the cost since you had them disassemble, reassemble, bleed on top of having to properly prep and the powdercoating process itself. Its alot of work for sure and labor for a shop.

I myself went with Duplicolor gloss black.
