now approved- whos got an RS4

i am pretty sure its not approved by the DOT. each one has to be individually inspected, replace a few parts, then approved. I just went thru all this this summer and decided to pass and just pay for school without a loan this year.

Yea your right about that. But just think about it with that money you can get a b5 rs4 woo hoo. Lol if i had the money ill jump on it with the quickness.

Theirs a Nogaro RS4 for sale in germany right now for 20K euro. ::40K usd:: so figure 40K + 3K for shipping + another 3-7K in Audi Dealer parts ::airbags, downpipes, cats, seatbelts and what have you:: so its 50-60K for a used Audi RS4.

On a side note. A Good condition S4 avant will fetch 15K, a K04 swap will set you back 5-10K pending what you want, and a widebody will cost you 10K ::just for pannels:: and another 5K for install and another 5K for paint. So 40-45K for a widebody S4, RS4 lookalike. The benefit of doing a widebody over importing an RS4 is simple, its cheaper, and you don't have to deal with MOT, and DOT emissions. Dealing with customs is already a PITA as I'm sure some of you already know.

An Rs4 is not just a wide bodied B5 Avant with stage 3...

You have include:

Seats, Trim, Guage, Tranny, wheels, ecodes, steering wheel

thats anywhere between 3 - 5k and above

PLUS an imported RS4 will hold its value ALOT better

If I was loaded with money, and already had a 996TT, F460, and some other exotics...I'd prolly hit it...lol But 40-50k is too much for a widebody STG3 S4...

You still have to federalize it and when all is said and done will run roughly $60k including purchase of the vehicle. The Dollar to Euro rate right now sucks.

i know its a bit much - there was a red RS4 that went in Soflo for 40k about a year ago....

it all depends - some say spending 60k on a Nissan R33 GTR (which is also Legal for importation) is dumb because its a nissan when all is said and done - for 60k you could buy a 966TT you could get a F355, a F348,E55, ect the only problem is everyone and their mother who has 50k is probably going after the same car.

I HATE to go some place and park next to a car thats JUST like mine and in SoFLo 996TTs are a dime a dozen

My curiosity was.... with all the hype on the B5 RS4 and everyone hailing them....now that its actually possible who threw down some money behind their praises and bought one.

If your going to build I wouldnt even start with a S4 avant- why not just get a A4 avant RS4 motor swap, upgraded suspension, you have to replace and paint most of the body regardless... im sure you could come well under 50k starting like that.

The Rs4 is approved for the importation process. It's not just outright approved for importation. You still have to pay big bucks to a registered importer, make sure they do it right and fill out all the paperwork properly, and pass whatever inspections EPA and DOT mandate. Last I checked the RI's wanted 6-8 grand just for them to take the car and another 4-5 grand to actually do the work. With RS4's in Europe going for 20-30K EURO, you need to save up 40-50,000 USD to make it a reality, or wait for someone who has spent the dough to unload their RS4.

Its over 5x the cost of my s4...but a cars "worth" is relative. If the person really loves the car then the price isnt as important.

If it were me...id try to come up with another $20k and get a r35 gtr!
