    Your 1.8 Quattro MPG?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just noticed that my car after Revo Stg 2 and TT injectors my MPG is down to about 23 average, that is with ~75/25 PERCENT highway/city. What are the rest of you guys averaging? This is almost (conservative) S4 territory.

    Re: Your 1.8 Quattro MPG?

The trip computer says 9mpg when i floor it and bring it up around 7k.
Average is around 18ish in the 3.5k range where I normal drive at (I am VERY heavy on the throttle).
When my wife drives it it's more around 22-24mpg.

*none of this is hwy driving, i have to drive two hours to even get to a highway.

we are all talking about actual MPG and NOT the DIS readout, correct? i dont believe 39MPG...i have seen it before on the screen, but the DIS isn't 100%. My DIS reads 29.4 but i get 23.

    Re: Your 1.8 Quattro MPG?

If you are running anything other than stock injectors you will need to make an adjustment to account for the different injector flow rate. Go to "Instrument Cluster" in Adaptation Channel 3 and you will see a Consumption Indicator field that is set to 100 as a default. You can vary the value from 85 to 115 (+/-15%) difference in the consumption. So if you are running a big injector program you want to set the value all the way to 115 which means the gas consumption will show 15% more than it currently does. In my case (GIAC-FX) the consumption was being underestimated by 30% so I could only correct approximately 1/2 of the error. So instead of showing an average of 31mpg it showed somewhere around 27 against an actual of 23.5. Obviously still not correct, but at least a little closer.

    Cheers!

Running detuned (due to lack supporting mods) REVO Sgt 2 I was getting 24-26 mpg in 80%city/20%highway driving @ 6500+ elevation. I haven't had all the mods/regular boost/timings settings long enough to make a determination currently.

I thought I drove agressively and still getting those #'s; maybe my car is super special or something or I need to just drive it even harder to get in with the rest of the crowd.

i'm running 550cc EFIs so even changing the Consumption Indicator field to 115 like you mention i won't be anywhere near correct value.
All of your calculated values are pretty much 5-10mpg lower then the ECU is reporting, which logically would mean I'm getting about 10-13mpg....... I really don't think she is drinking that much gas.

Doesn't much matter to me tho, she gets what she gets.

Not that I know of. Just check your actual versus indicated and adjust as much as you can (up to 15% max).

If I drive right I get 27 average with probably 20highway/80city. I drive pretty conservatively though and the bulk of my driving is at night with limited traffic.

If the speed limit is 45 I probably do 48 ... too many tickets

Ever since I put that anti-fouler crap on my second 02 sensor, my fuel mileage has gone down the drain. I now that it is the primary (first) 02 sensor that does all the fuel readings, but i swear my mileage has gone done from about 380 to 330 miles for a tank (50/50 highway/city driving).

I usually get between 17-18mpg (calculated using the miles on my trip computer divided by the gallons I have to put in to fill up) in the city, and on my recent trip to Syracuse I got about 28-29mpg highway. Seems kind of crappy for someone who's only APR Stage 1. Oh well, I'm swapping my plugs soon and hopefully fuel filter at some point. On that subject, can anyone recommend a torque wrench that would be good enough just to use for spark plugs? (Preferably something from like Home Depot/Sears/Lowes that I can order online or pickup).

same here, get 300 for 3/4s of the tank but the last 1/4 is always much less than 100miles which is is for the first 3 quarters.

But at school its all hills and really short trips to campus and around town, and im currently getting like 15mpg on the screen and 50miles per 1/4 tank. Which is awful but i have only driven 50 miles in 3 weeks so i dont really mind since i wont have to fill it up for another month or so ha.

used to get 30 average (80% freeway, 20% city/smaller roads) and the DIS & actuals were pretty close when I compared them.
Since the upgraded injectors (530cc) the DIS now shows my average at 39 MPG over similar circumstances - I haven't yet managed to record actuals but I suspect they're still around 30...

    Re: Your 1.8 Quattro MPG?

On my stock car, I have gotten around 400 miles for 3/4 of the gas tank on a few occasions (i dont like to run it down to empty). usually though i get between 300 and 350 miles for the 3/4 of the gas tank. The computer readout usually shows me at 30mpg when i drive in the highway conservatively. If i drive between 70 and 85mph, it drops down to about 28mpg. I usually do the calculations myself when i buy gas and get around 23/24mpg (70%hwy/30%city) but the most i calculated myself was 28mpg.

I could maybe squeeze out 400 a tank, but i get on it and drive about 10-15mph over the speed limit on the interstate. IIRC, for every 10mph you go over the speed limit, you'll use 50% more fuel. Something like that.
