Where did you hear that there was a sport package? I'm pretty sure that wasn't an option.

Re: quick S4 sport package question

4 spoke has radio buttons/or bluetooth toggle depending on which extra options the car has and year. I went with the 4 spoke as I was looking for a fast car that was more grownup. Most people swear by the 3 spoke cause its "sporty."

yeah, the 3 spoke does look a bit "cooler" but having the steering wheel controls is a nice feature

The four-spoke "Multi-function" steering wheel was an option...I don't think I'd consider it a sporty one, though. The three-spoke is sportier IMO. Of course, I do have the four-spoke, so, whatever.

I'm going to say "to each his own." I have a B6 (04-05), but I can tell you, the B7's (05.5-08) look just as hot. A lot of the time, it's just waiting for what's right for you - or rather, what you want. I waited and waited, and then ended up getting mine from the East Coast. Keep looking - autotrader, ebay, craigslist. They're out there.

Hey Pismo!! Haven't seen you on here in awhile, or maybe I don't visit the B5 section as often as I did. We were RS4 Reps twins for awhile. Glad to see you're stepping up to the S4 plate!

The most obvious B7 difference is the 60-0 torque split for the B7s, although I'm not sure the 5.5s had them. Also, the 3 spoke wheel has all the radio controls on it:

There is no "sport" package for the B6s, the steering wheel must be just an option. The B7s have a DTM package which changes out the wheels, fenders, skirts, and in my case the rear lip, interior and exhaust.

they are a bunch of noobs...the dealers probably thinks...the S in S4 stands for Sport...therefore sport package...

I think S stands for Stupid...how to double the price of an A4...add an S...JK...

that's contraditory. you say the b6 is the best besides the new RS4 which is a basically more beefy (cosmetically) b7, but still looks like a b7 nonetheless.

anyway, you get a newer car with more warranty on the 05.5+. 60/40 torque split comes on 06+ 6MTs, I believe.

hey JMG... yeah, I have not been around here in a while. sold that car probably a couple of years ago (the B5)... but I moved up to Bend, OR and it snows here in the winter... so the S4 is definitely what I need. need the speed and something that can handle the winter. if I went with the B7 I would want to get the 25th ann.. there was one around here for 38K but I think that is a bit high for my budget right now

right, I think some of the b7 S4's don't have the body work that makes it look as "mean" as the b6's... the RS4 has exactly what the b7 needs to give it that aggressive look

At this point I don't really mind either way if I get a b6 or b7 since I know I will be happy with either. Love the way the b6 looks with RS6 reps on it!

I'm in the same boat. Just bought my second b6 s4 as the b7 just doesn't do it for me. Only b7 I would consider is the RS4. It is leaps and bounds better looking than the b7 s4 in my eyes. It's too bad they never made a b6 RS4.

Re: quick S4 sport package question

may be they mean the "enhanced interior package" - which is the 2 tone alcantara seats and aluminum trim.

the only packages for b6 s4 are:
premium package - moonroof, memory seats, etc, i think it was a $3000+- option
enhanced interior package - 2 tone and alum trim, a no cost option
audio package - bose and satellite, $1500+- option?

    other standalone options are:
    heated seats $500+-
    rear side airbags $don't remember
    nav $2000+-
    metallic paint
    multi-function steering wheel (4 spoke) $500+-

    undocumented options:
manual rear windows sunshade (i have them)

Re: quick S4 sport package question

I prefer the B6 car. The B7 was a face-lift fitted to an existing car. The execution is tasteful, but it doesn't quite work for me on the S4.

Now, the RS4 works due to the wider wheel arches. The RS4 is "thicker" and it works for me. The lower spoiler and the air openings behind the foglamp grilles look aggressive.

I like the dual exhaust myself.

I will say this about the B6, it is better looking stock than the B7 S4, but the DTM S4 has the extra edge that makes it one of the best looking "4" series Audis yet besides the RS4.

IMO, i think the only thing that audi botched on the b6 S4's were the wheels. God i have never seen such ugly rims for a car of this stature.

Re: quick S4 sport package question

I believe the CPO warranty is from Audi, whereas an extended warranty is a 3rd party warranty. I think.

I don't think that wheel was available in the B6. B6 three spoke has no mutifuction controls.

I think the CPO gives u an extended warranty...kinda the point. Havent hurd of any that are just CPO...any dealer can just slap them on to sell cars.

Well, kinda. CPO is warranty provided from Audi on their certified used cars whereas extended warranties you buy (possibly from dealer) and are from a third party company.

possibly, a lot of third party extended warranties are bumper to bumper coverage. it depends on what level you buy (silver, gold, platinum, etc.). I think 3rd party warranties run around $2-3k for up to 100k miles. I'm not too sure, though. You have to do some research.

Personally, I like CPO because you only have to deal with Audi and not some third party who may make you pay up front and be reimbursed later or may have other stipulations like where the car must be serviced, etc.
