    Adaptive headlights question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My car has adaptive headlights and I just bought an OEM HID headlight but am not sure if its adaptive. Is there anyway to visibly tell if they are indeed adaptive?

If not....... how hard is it to take apart and change the lens and housing over?

    TIA

why did you buy a new housing? broken or something? and all xenons except for euro-spec ones are adaptive, open the rear door on the back of the light and look for the small adaptive motors..hope that helps

    Re: Adaptive headlights question

Well the reason for the purchase is because so idiot backed into my car and rubbed the headlight making a huge (deep) scratch across the lense and breaking the top mounting tab.

What is this adaptive motor I am looking for???? Is it obvious?

Can a person take the whole backing off and swap it or is it all one piece? Is the lense attached by just silicone and something you can heat and disassemble?

    Thanks

when you turn it on at night, you'll see your projectors move around initially. this happens only when you turn on your car and your headlight switch is in either auto or ON.

    Re: Adaptive headlights question

if its the lense and the outer body of the headlight... you might be able to swap the internals (electronics/mechanisms)... and I'll take your broken headlight

I know...my question was I just bought it so it is not installed on my car. Need to find out before I pull out the old one and swap it out.

ill buy the headlight, how much? I have a project I wanna do =)

and, where did you get the headlight? did you get the same part number or is it different? Else, you would have to open the headlight and swap out all the internals to make it adaptive.

I will have to wait until I recieve the Headlight (should be early next week). I will let you know what shape the light is in, if it's scratched or marked up then I'll sell it cheaper.

The one currently on my car is fine, just the lense is marked and was going to do the wet sand and Plastic polish DIY but I don't have that kind of time.

I will keep you guys up to date.
